Looking for recommendations for a RV park close to Disney Springs? We have a res for FW starting the 24th for 10 nights. We have opportunity to leave a couple of days earlier than originally planned so we are looking for a place to stay a couple of nights that would be a close uber ride to Disney Springs. Any ideas?

Hi @dabyes42 - Welcome to the DIS Camping Board. (post #1)

:welcome::disrocks:

When I go to google maps and click on Disney Springs and ask for "rv parks" nearby DS, the nearest places that come up are all down on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. The drive time (plus add in any wait time for ubr) google maps gave for 1pm central on this saturday afternoon is 25 minutes (from Kissimmee RV Park on 192). I bet you got that too when you checked.

To me, nearly a half hour's drive away is not "close". IMO, you'd pay for an uber to/from out of the savings of an off-site rv site versus a Fort site. I doubt the savings would be very substantial (defined to be 'enough to pay for a table service meal at DS').

IMO it's not worth the hassle so I have nothing to suggest. Also have you checked availability at any of the Hwy 192 places (Encore, KOA, Palms, etc.). It might be less stressful to just stay at the Fort for the entire stay.

If you know of something else, I'm all ears. :earboy2:

I will echo Team Bradfield with Camp Margaritaville. While a 20 to 25 mile ( CM exit 44 drive I-4 to World Drive exit 65) Disney Property be, fore warned traffic can be a major time killer depending on the time of day and direction of travel.

Is that a good choice for an uber ride to/from Disney Springs, though?

I get that you (Mike and Jeff) like the spot but for the OP's request (trips to the Disney bubble) does it really fit the bill? Sometimes that 20+ mile trip can take nearly an hour each way.

OP in the uber back seat will be like ....

PS - Mike, not to hijack the thread but are you heading back to the Fort for the holiday season soon? I know @team bradfield will be in a few weeks.

PPS - ooopsie. 32 miles to Disney Springs from Camp Margaritaville drive time is 65 minutes one way here at 330pm central (add wait time for ubr).

Ed yes we do like Margaritaville and I agree it can be a long ride from there to WDW that's why I said it's a time killer. They might want to consider renting a car if doing trip more than once.
AS to your inquiry. Yes, we are headed down in 2 weeks. Checking in on Dec 20th and out Jan 6th. Will do a PTR after dinnner

I've made the trip from home to FW in 24 minutes. Normally you can figure on 40+.
I can hit Camp Margaritaville with a rock from my house. While a really nice place I'm not sure it's somewhere the OP would want to Uber back and forth from.

Closest to WDW is Tropical Palms, on 192. (6.9 driving miles to Disney Springs) It is listed as "Encore Tropical Palms" on Google and their website is "Thousand Trails". I have stayed here several times before a Fort visit or when I was in town for a conference. It is basic, but nice enough. We have also stayed a little farther out on 192 at Orlando/Kissimmee KOA (7.5 miles from Disney Springs). Nicer campground than Tropical Palms. We arrive a few days after hurricane Irma when the Fort was closed and needed a place to stay on late notice (like driving through Georgia on the way, late). The KOA went out of their way to accommodate everyone impacted by the hurricane, despite many of their staff being impacted. They said come in and stay as long as you need, "we'll figure it out". Nice place, great staff. Our own @WalkingintheFog stayed there in a rustic cabin during her month long Fort stay for the DIS Meet earlier this month and loved it.

DD got a job offer at the University of Central Florida, so we are looking for a full hookup site somewhere near the University of Central Florida for around two weeks maybe in June. Then we will probably move to the Fort for a while. We have to move her from Auburn University to the Orlando area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would but I threw my back out years ago. :rotfl2:

We looked at a lot of campgrounds on the east side of Orlando, and chose Christmas RV in Christmas FL. It's not as close as I'd like to be, but maybe on our days off, we will head to the coast. After about 8 days we will move to the Fort for a week or so. Then we will take 2 weeks to head back north to Illinois. A few days in Atlanta, then a few more days in Nashville. We haven't been at Disney in May so we will see how it goes.
