Recipe for Italian cookies, lady fingers? Picture added

We make Italian cookies that are soft inside & have icing on the top (confec. sugar) & then shots/non-pareils.

But they aren't flavored differently.

I don't have a picture & we just call them Italian cookies.

Did you try All Recipes to look up lady fingers?

Monorailsilver....can you put up the recipe for these. I think these are the cookies my best friends mom used to bake every christmas growing up. Of course, mom's gone now and no way to get the recipe. thanks

That looks like an anginette cookie to me.

Yep, that's exactly what I was going to say. My Italian MIL makes these, especially around Christmas time. They are sooooo good! Wish she lived closer!

I don't know what they are, but they're not lady fingers! We don't have "italian bakeries" because all of our bakeries are italian! :lmao: And all of our delis sell their own fresh homemade mozzarella and sausage. Ironically, I don't like any italian desserts, but I love bread, so it all works out. This is the best image I could find http://forexp.net/kokotaru/image2/IMG_7629.jpg

The cookies you are looking for might be ricotta cookies.

Ok, I went to the bakery and bought a cookie. This is the vanilla one but they also had strawberry and chocolate.

They look like (what we call) Knots. The cookie is called that because of the way you shape it before you bake it.

The icing can be flavored with lemon or anisette.

The are different recipes for these cookies. Some recipes call for cream cheese which makes the cookie moist and last longer (this is the one I use).

These cookies are usually made for Christmas and decorated with sprinkles of different colors (red, green and multi-colored).

If you Google "Italian Knot Cream Cheese Cookie" you will find many recipes. Just remember that these cookies are white and do not brown. So do not overbake them or else they will be DRY inside. The bottoms should be slightly colored when done.

I love these cookies and can't wait for Christmas so I can bake some! :santa:
