Recharging your batteries in the parks, literally, not figuratively

I was wondering if anyone had any tips as to where, within the four WDW theme parks, one could recharge their smartphone battery. With all we do with our phones, from Facebooking to Tweeting, from texting and talking, to photos and videos, our batteries don't have the battery life we'd like. Even an overnight charge in our resort room doesn't always give us a full day when we utilize our phone often.

I'll say it before anyone else does: "you're on vacation, turn off your phone". Well, in my opinion, as long as it isn't detracting from your attention to your family or to Disney Magic, a smartphone can be quite useful on a Disney vacation.

Thanks in advance. :)

I don't know of any "public" outlets, but if you are desperate to recharge your phones I would either bring an extra battery into the parks or bring a portable charger with you. There are a plethora of portable chargers out there for all types of devices.

I bought a mophi juice pack on ebay for 21 bucks for my iphone! not sure if there is one that fits yours....:cool1:

I keep an external battery/recharger for my phone. We also spend mornings in the parks and go back to the resort for lunch and for the early afternoons. That is when I charge ALL of my gadgetry.

I wonder if they'll ever install public re-charge stations like the kind you see at airports. Maybe at Guest Relations or in an area similar to a first-aid or a baby changing station.

Don't know what that is, but I'm guessing it's some kind of mega-life battery that replaces the standard one. I have an HTC Incredible Android.

This is pretty much what we do too, since we no longer do the parks "commando" style, and always take an afternoon break.

Yes it is...sorry I don't know if there is one for the Android but I'd ask at your local retailer then look at ebay!!

I struggled with this during the summer both at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Eventually I found the following...

Disneyland

- There's an outlet by the bathrooms near ToT and most other bathrooms
- Many stores have outlets near the front door

Walt Disney World

- Many stores have outlets near the front door
- Many bathrooms have outlets inside the ladies' room

I have also heard that there is an iPhone app for Disneyland where you can locate outlets to charge your phone. I'd suggest getting an external battery though. It really is easier and I'm planning on doing so before my next Disney trip.

Hmm, I wonder if the secret bathroom at Disneyland has an outlet. Do you know where the secret bathroom at Disneyland is? It's an unmarked unisex restroom kind of between the hub and Frontierland. Seriously, not a lot of people know about it, but it's there!

Thanks for your other tips. While at WDW I may have to use the outlets in the stores, since if I use the one in the ladies room my problems will be greater than a dead cellphone battery!!:rotfl2:

As a frequent traveler, I often find outlets in hotel lobbies. Take a break in the afternoon and hangout at one of the monorail resorts. Recharge your batteries and your phone batteries!

Hotel/resort lobbies is another great option!

I also wanted to add that I am not stating that Disney has placed these outlets in public areas for your general use. With that being said, I have never encountered a problem and usually did not use them for very long. I find that a good five minutes and I was set until I returned to the resort. Cast members have never had an issue with this!

Last month, I charged my phone in the Kidcot area of the UK pavilion. There are 2 chairs across from the desk. To the left is an outlet. I sat there and charged my phone. Sometimes Pooh and friends are back there for pictures, so it can be crowded. At the time I was back there, the store was empty.

My son was great about giving me some advice on how to cut back on some of the battery sucking power (and not have as many "interruptions"): Turn off the notifications. I get lots of FB, email, apps, reminding me to check my phone. Of course I enjoy using Foursquare, FB, etc., but I try to stop myself, but some of those lines just make me want to turn on my phone!

Have an htc incredible. The best investment I have made on the phone is buying a standard secondary battery, and a charger for the battery. No need to recharge mid day when i travel. I always keep the second battery with me. It is worth it in my mind.

I carried my charger around and was lucky to be seated in a restaurant near an outlet! Then I found an outlet on the porch of the Yacht Club. Got a good charge both times! I also brought an extra battery pack; but it still didn't get me through a day - I used my phone for taking pictures too.

I would recommend a device that would let you charge your phone & a battery pack at the same time; I didn't have one so I wasn't fully charged each morning.

I have found a few places to charge:

DHS - Magic of Disney Animation. Just below where you sit to enter the draw with an artist area. I usually go and hang out there when everyone goes to ride RnR!

Epcot - Innoventions West. Just beyond the Character Spot. It is nice and quiet and I actually plugged in there and sat in that area to check into our flights on the Southwest app!

AK - Just across from Tusker House is an outdoor eating area. There is actually a plug right next to the Hidden Baloo!!

MK - Have never had to charge there (yet!) but I have to think that in the back of Exposition Hall there would be something.

As others have mentioned, the hotel lobby would also work!

Doesn't guest services still offer charging? I understood that they and the camera shops were able to charge camera batteries for guests (but I never took advantage of that) in the past.

When we stop to eat at quick service locations, snack locations, or sometimes even sit down locations I look for power outlets and plug in my IPhone. The cord is very small and easy for me to stick in my pocket while we are touring the theme parks. After 20 or 30 minutes the battery is pretty well recharged.

There are power outlets available you just have to look around for them.
