I'd like to offer steak at my reception. We haven't decided on plated or buffet. I've been told all our location ideas will work for both.

How does offering steak work? are they all cooked to one way or do people specify how they'd like it cooked. I wonder because I only eat my steaks well. DFi will anything from med-med well. my fFIL and fBIL both go to rare or med rare.

I know that fBIL won't enjoy a well done steak or even a med well. I was discussing some food/beverage options with him for an outside opinion.

Thanks.

We had steak at our wedding and I honestly couldn't tell you how it was cooked. We served filet mignon so I'm assuming that it was somewhere between medium to medium well. I usually eat my steak medium well-well done and don't remember complaining about how it was cooked. My MIL is someone who only eats meat well done-burned so she did asked to have hers cooked a bit more and it was no problem.

As ours was a plated meal The servers knew who had which dish (steak, chicken, fish, veggie) prior to serving, so I'm assuming that all were served the same. I would just double check with the chef/planner how the steak is cooked as well as if it is ok to 1) Request a few steaks cooked in a specific manner for specific guests (that you will identify), and 2) If it is ok for guests to send it back for additional cooking time?

We just went to our planning session and had the same question! We are doing a dual plate of filet mignon and chicken. We were told all the steaks are cooked medium/well and if someone wants it cooked more they will take it back and cook it longer. When we had our tasting they said the way it was cooked that day will be how it is cooked at the reception. I have to say it was perfect and I usually only eat my meat well done! They did ask how my DH and I like our steaks cooked and wrote it down so we could have ours exactly how we like it!:thumbsup2

Thank you.

I think since most of the guests we've polled (I got a little bored yesterday, and asked some friends) they are all on the rare end of steaks, and I don't want to have to send my steak back. I guess I'll skip the steak option. Which makes me sad, because I love several of the Disney steaks, but I want people to enjoy it and not think it's too well for them.

We also want steak and I've been thinking about this...

If you are putting your food options on your RSVP or similar, maybe you could add a line about how they like their steak cooked and give a list to your WP. You could definitely tell them the bride wants her steak well!

we did our planning session 2 weeks ago. Since we are doing a buffet, we were told that the steak(we are doing a carving station) would be med rare(which is how I like it) but the chef explained that our guests can have there steak refired once it is carved for them.

We had filet/lobster as one of our 3 entree choices (plated menu)- and the filet was cooked Med rare-Medium (slightly red/mostly pink center) for everyone except my FIL who had his Well done (he likes shoe leather :lmao:). As already stated, Chef Dennis said they would re-fire any one that wanted it more cooked. FOrtunately, no one did and everyone who had the surf and turf raved about it. (I don't eat red meat so I had a special plate that was a mix of 2 of our entrees)

FWIW, it's your reception and I think you should have what you want. I don't know that I would plan my reception based on my guest's interests. Disney will make sure your steak is just as you would like it.:thumbsup2
