My husband and I stayed at Boardwalk Villas for a grown-up only week at WDW from 8/14-8/19
Here are my impressions:
Dining- has went downhill bigtime in the two years since I last visited. I really think the dining plan has killed great menus at many of the restaurants. It is all about the profit. I looked at want they would have charged for these meals and laughed. Best sit down dinner-Kouzzina by Cat Cora. Would reccommend to anyone who hasn't tried it.
Worst meal by far ever- Les Chefs de France. Unreal the cost for that meal. My husband's duck was OK. My gnocchi seafood dish with its 6 undercook pieces of pasta, 1 scallop, and 2 shrimp in a tomato soup broth was terrible and overpriced.
Bus transportation from Boardwalk- I really hope I get a customer satisfaction survey. One bus shared by 5 big resorts! I guess when the resorts are DVC and not regular paying folks they don't care how they pack u on. Did not use have to use it for Epcot or the studios, but getting to MK, AK, or Downtown Disney was terrible and a great waste of vacation time.
Crowds- I know a lot of people were saying the crowds weren't bad. I have vacationed over 20 times in the summer. It was busy. We got in early, used fastpass and got out early afternoon. Major rides had anywhere from 60-100 minute waits most days we were there.
Cast members- Always polite and helpful. I enjoy talking the cms.
Park merchandise- Anyone notice how few people were wearing disney theme apparel in disney parks ? Do you think $25 and up tshirts and hats have anything to do with it? My husband and I have a great collection of disney apparel we have collected over the years. Bought nothing to wear in the park this time. Again all about profit and not quality which is very sad for disney fans. Found nothing on sale this time either, we usually do.
We had a good time and I'm sure will be back again. Maybe next time without the dining plan and driving to some of the parks.
