Do we currently need to have a FP for everyone in the group to be issued a RS?

When my family went in February, we did not. I purchased maxpass only for my husband and older 3 children. I waited with the younger 2 while they rode. And I would get a RS. But someone reported in July that they had to scan everyone's FP before the CM would give them the RS. (I believe they said it happened at Indiana.)

Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

Apparently you do at Disney World, now, but DL doesn't seem to be requiring that (yet). My friends did RS last week and they only had a FPs for one adult and their oldest child. They'd scan those two FPs, ask for RS, it would get scanned on the other adult and the oldest child (so she could ride with both parents). They did this on a few different rides with no issues.

I used rider switch several times this week and they never required me to have a fastpass. I always did have one and they usually gave us a 20 minute return time so we could have our 3 rider switch people ride along with the unused fastpass. Handy since we have 3 big kids and being able to take 4 people at a time is nice.

I was there in late August and it really depended on the ride. For the most part, they did require FP's for everyone riding the ride initially, but NOT for the ones returning, so with that in mind, I would only make FP's for DH OR myself and our daughter, and not waste getting 3 FP's . We were allowed 3 additional people (although our group was not that big). I noticed different rides handled the RS differently too. For example on Indiana Jones, we always got a paper fastpass to return anytime that day (which was nice, not having to do it right away). Others, for the most part gave us an hour return time. Our daughter benefitted the most, getting to go on everything at least twice :earboy2:

That is interesting that you got paper fast passes to return anytime that day. Like the good old days! So much easier and less hassle for you CM who has to mentally calculate an appropriate return time then manually add them everyone’s ticket.
