I finally found some info on these events after much searching but was wondering if anyone has done them recently?

All the reviews I've found are 2-3 years old. Has anyone done the Family Magic tour lately? Details please!

Also, I was considering a pirate cruise but my kids are 7 & a mature 10. Do you think they're too old?

Thanks for the info

My 10 year old son did the Pirate Cruise for his second time on our last trip. He went the first time when he was 8. He had a great time both times he went on the trip.

Your kids should be fine. But be prepared that they may be the oldest children on the boat.

Here's a link to a picture of my son before he got on the boat on his last trip.

My grandson did the pirate cruise last summer at 8 and seemed to have a nice time--liked the loot mostly. I asked him if he wanted to do it this summer (now 9) and he said no. He said it was boring and they didn't really go anywhere. I guess it takes more to stimulate them--he said he would like to swim with the sharks at TL. I guess they have a cut off age for a reason.

OK, I guess we have decided to skip the pirate cruise but we are definitely, absolutely doing the "family magic tour".

Has anybody done this lately?

I'd love to hear some recent feedback!

Thanks!

We are one of the families that did the Magic tour a few years ago and it was ok. My daughters were 4 and 9 and they liked it but wouldn't take the time to do it again. Do you have any reason to believe that they have improved or changed it? We did not see anything in the park we hadn't (or couldn't) have seen on our own. and I felt it was rather expensive and not that great.
However the girls loved the Pirate cruise and want to do that again!
I would call and ask WDW for a updated description of the Tour to help you decide.

We just did it in Feb. DD is 8 and she really enjoyed it. At the end she got to ride on the Carousel next to Wendy. I didn't really enjoy it all that much and wouldn't do it again, but then again I didn't really do it for me anyways. We were in a group of about 15-20, can't remember, and crossed the entire park in 2 horus. Lots of walking, no rides. If your kids like treasure hunts, they'll probably like it. Have to be willing to be silly though ~ hop around, skip, generally make a spectacle of yourself ;) If you think the Pirate Cruise will be boring, chances are the tour will be too...

You might consider doing Hidden Mickey hunts, pressed coins or passports in Epcot.

I didn't expect to see anything we wouldn't see on our own....I thought it was supposed to be fun.

This is pretty much what I thought it would be like....and my kids do like treasure hunts!

Which storyline was it? Was it the Captain hook one?

It doesn't sound boring to me!

Thanks so much for replying Kaitys mom. Apparently you're the only DISers to do this recently.

Yes, it was the Captain Hook theme.

I guess it depends on the maturity level of your older child - some kids go thru a "too cool" phase. If that isn't a problem, and they both like to be silly, you'll have a good time.

Just an aside - they start these tours promptly! We were a couple minutes late (need fast pass at the Main Street bakery:) ) and they had already started.

Have fun!
