Our trip is paid in full, so now we are just saving spending money and all the other assorted things I can spend money on :)

We're staying PBH garden view for 4 nights over the 4th of July. Our first visit to PBH we were comped an upgrade to club level (I KNOW!! That would never happen now!) and well, I'm spoiled. We have since stayed club at RPR and been back to PBH but without club level. I love the little extra ooomph! you get with club like turndown and the Italian music from the stereo when you open the door.

We can upgrade for $495 to club-we already have a ridiculously low rate for PBH and over a holiday week no less, so I'm really considering it. DH says that it's fine with him, but I have to pay for it myself since he couldn't care less if we sleep there or in a tent.

If you've been club level at PBH recently, how was your stay? Go ahead and give me that teensy shove to upgrading.

I would like to know too! We are arriving at PB next monday and will be staying club level so I will let you know how it was when we get back.

By the way- where in NE Florida are you located?

I'll be there tomorrow night thru sunday morning in a club room. I'll be sure to come back and say how it was or just write a trip report about it

We too, are spoiled with Club so i know the feeling. We booked it on our first trip at RPH and have never done anything else since.

We love club at PBH. Something to note though. The club level is not on the same floor as the rooms. We thought this to be a little strange. But the club lounge is HUGE and we like all the perks. Plus, i think the club level PBH rooms might be a teensy weensy bit bigger. Someone else may be able to verify.

We also take full advantage of the all day beverage access. We did find it odd that you do not have your own "club floor" so to speak, but we are doing it again in June so it was not that big of a deal!

dsmom-I'm in Jax :)

Motherfletcher-I was thinking today about asking at checkin how much it would be to upgrade at that time, then again I'm nervous since it's a holiday that it might be unavailable if I wait much longer. I tend to worry over inconsequential things like that.

I can't wait for all of y'alls trip reports!!

Hey Holly Goheavy- Hi neighbor! We live in Neptune Beach!

Can someone read this Wendy person's club level review and tell me if this is possible or are they making stuff up?

We were at PBH concierge for 7 nights in February. It is definitely not dirty. There are many attendants and it is very kid friendly. The hotel is very well marked so I'm not sure what they were talking about. I never asked questions about the park, so I can't agree or disagree there. The room was spotless. Not even any gunge under the soap tray in the bathtub.

The food offerings are very adult oriented. That would be my only concern when taking kids. If you child loved marinated mushrooms and peppers and antipasta and pasta salad then they will love it. Dont' go expecting chicken fingers and kids stuff because it isn't there. Afternoon snack is granola and fruit everyday. If you like that, you will love the place.

We now love the PBH but we wouldn't pay for concierge. We stayed in the west wing and had to walk a bit to the club lounge. Once we found our way, it was no big deal. It isn't like Hard Rock where concierge is an entire floor. The club lounge is locked and you need the club key to get in. The lounge is right beside the lobby.

thanks for the reassurance, I have just booked a bay view room, but thought I might ask about upgrading to club when I check in.

Where do these nuts come from? I stayed at the Savoy last summer, the famous London Savoy, it was absolutely beautiful yet I see all these bad reviews about it.

TA is full of complainers and whiners - you have to take those reviews with a grain of salt. I've even read reviews where they took photos of what was behind the toilet - sorry, I just don't get it; I don't look behind the toilet and I don't eat off the toilet floor so if it is a little bit dirty, so what??? I always look to see how many posts the person has made and if they have made more than the one bad review (which isn't common), I look at what else they have said.

I find TA to be very accurate - if you ignore the bottom half and the top half of the posts! Seriously, trying to guage the posts on TA is often an art form, between deciding is the poster an employee of the hotel, an employee of a competitor, someone with an axe to grind or travellers with realistic or unrealistic expectations.

I use TA to read between the lines to see what the poster could have done to make the situation smoother. I have never had a problem at check in because we always check in at about 8 a.m. Never a line then. I have felt like the club staff was kind of snooty in the past but have also ran into club staff that were very common and helpful. One girl even recommended taking offering items every time we left the club to see how much stuff we could take home with us. I have received bad info from club staff but that was for a special event. I wish they would say "I don't know." instead of giving out misinformation.
Just like checking in at 8 we visited the club in "off" times. I was often the first in line at breakfast and used one of their trays or even one that the kids bought me to take stuff back to the room. I've toasted 6 bagels and taken them back to my ravenous party.
Upgrading to Club at check in is a crapshoot that many don't feel comfy with and need to get the upgrade in advance. I've got an upgrade to club compted, paid $50 at PBH, $70 at HRH and refused the $100 at RPR. I've got the club access from non-club rooms too. Like Damo said the nightly offering were nevr anything the kids would like. Maybe the cheese and crackers. So the biggie is breakfast and it's convenience. So if I don't get the upgrade at check in I still think I can buy quite alot of breakfast for $50 a day.
My kids like the club lounge for other resaons than the food. They love to shoot pool, they like the game tables (flip the table tops) with drawers full of checkers and chessmen. They like the DVD libraby and they always spend too much time on the 2 computers. We have been to the parks so many times that sometimes we'll kick back in the club lounge in the afternoon when there is basically nobody there.
Like Damo I wouldn't reserve a club room at rack rate but if they offer a reasonable price at chek in I'll take it.
