Just got back from a 10 day stay at Beach Club Villas.
Rochester NY to Orlando on Airtrain.
We were out of the plane in Orlando at about 3:00pm. It take about 10 minutes to get to the Magic Express check in area near the car rental desks on level 1 of the main terminal. Waited in like for 10 minutes to check in... seems everyone in front of me had an issue or problem.. each took over 5 minutes. It took me 30 seconds to check in. Family waited in the center area for me, then we all entered the bus loading queue area - they point you into a queue based on resort. In 5 minutes they herded us onto a bus, then we sat for 5 minutes and they herded another queue onto our bus. We left the airport about 3:40. An accident on the airport road delayed us 15 minutes. We dropped off at Caribbean Beach Resort, then at the Dolphin for someone on a traditional Mears ticket, then at Yacht Club, then our Beach Club stop a little before 5pm. Luggage was in our room when we returned after dinner around 8pm.
On departure, we had a 4:50pm flight. The day before you leave they leave a notice for you with your departure time, which was as reported here - 3 hours before, at 1:40pm. We put our luggage into storage (no airline check in because Airtran is not a participating airline.) At 1:15 I had our luggage pulled out of storage and they left it in a cart and the bellman said he would load it on the bus. I also went to guest services and they checked us into our flight and printed boarding passes. The earlier pickup was just leaving (1:20). At 1:42 our bus pulled in. I did not see the bellman so I asked someone else to make sure our luggage got on.. it might have been missed otherwise. We picked up at Boardwalk at 1:50, then CBR at 2:00, and to the airport at 2:40. We tipped the bellman who put our luggage in storage, again when coming out of storage/loading onto bus, gave the ME bus driver $3 for unloading it, and got a porter at the airport and tipped him. Whew.
The drop off is the same place you load on the lower level. So you might have a long way to pull or carry your luggage to get up to ticketing. It took about 20 minutes to get through the check in line to get our luggage tags, then drop them off at the xray area. We arrived at our gate about 30 minutes before boarding began....
so that pickup 3 hours ahead seems just right!
