Yes it would, but I believe it's supposed to be the size of a 2BR lockoff. That would mean a 316 sq ft studio plus a 629 sq ft 1BR, FAR smaller than current 1BRs. I think BCV is 712 sq ft and BWV somewhat larger.
Did I mention I'm not buying? Not that I ever intended to but these sizes are really depressing.
Since someone brought up sizes (of villas), does it seem to anyone else that each DVC resort built has smaller rooms than the last? There may be a few minor exceptions, but it seems that starting with OKW, now VAKL, each subsequent resort has had smaller villas. Just a little sore point with me.
Oh my...this information definitely, if accurate, will cause us to reconsider a purchase as much as we love, and have anxiously awaited, a new DVC here.
This speculated information posted here in the various AKV threads has me feeling a bit deflated about the project.
First we hear that the new Villas will not be connected, or even within walking distance of the Lodge, then we have the rumours of significantly increased projections of points and dues costs, and now there are early indications that the villas may all be significantly smaller.
I realize that until DVC actually releases the information it is all speculative, so I am really hoping that when the Official information is finally released, there will be better news.
Disneys Animal Kingdom Resort (7,353,696 Vacation Points): NOTE: THERE IS NO ASSURANCE THIS RESORT WILL BE ADDED TO THE DISNEY VACATION CLUB): red indicates SSR room sizes
Type of Vacation Home --- Quantity
Grand Villa Vacation home (3BR/4BA; 2,201 sq.ft. 2113 sq.ft.) --- 22
Two-Bedroom Vacation Home (2BR/2BA; 1075 sq.ft. 1075 sq.ft.) --- 140
Two-Bedroom Vacation Home locked-off One Bedroom and studio
Vacation Home possible but not dedicated (2BR/2BA; 945 sq.ft. 1069 sq.ft.) --- 250
Studio Vacation Homes (1BR/1BA; 316 sq.ft. 355 sq.ft.) --- 46
Total Number of Vacation Homes --- 458
As Erik was saying the curent deluxe(and standard rooms) at AKL do not fit these numbers. 381 sq.ft. deluxe room would make a 381 sq.ft. studio, a 762 sq.ft. 1 bedroom and a 1143 sq.ft. 2 bedroom which are all larger then the current SSR rooms. I do not feel they would be tearing out walls with less then a year.
The smaller dedicated studio room size does jive with one other rumor that's been going around, which is that the converted rooms will be smaller than the new construction, and the smaller units will have access to concierge services to compensate.
I've always been troubled by the mention of concierge services at AKV since funding of those services would seem to originate with the resort budget, which is shared by all. How can you ask all owners to fund a service that can only be used by those registered in a select group of rooms? Perhaps this is one solution--offer additional services to compensate for the lesser accommodation.
You need space between AKV and AKL in order to accommodate the animals. Likewise the road/path between the two many not even be straight in order to position a Savannah between the two resorts.
There isn't any way to walk from AKL to the AK.
This will never happenbut it would be nice to have a tram, similar to the tram that connects the airside sections of MCO with the main terminal, connecting the two resorts.
