or are they dry and spindly...you know, the kind you get a strings worth of meat out of? DS is looking forward to his crab legs...almost as much as the trip! We have never eaten at Cape May before, overall opinions?

Thanks!

My son sure seemed to enjoy them while we were there in February. I cannot offer you my opinion since I am a vegetarian, but my son had quite a few during our dinner and seemed more than happy with the selection. :goodvibes

I found them to be very moist back in Nov. trust me I don't want no dried up crablegs that stick to the shell. We really enjoy the Clambake for all their offerings/

When we were there in late February, they all stuck to the shells. We kept getting fresh ones and they were all the same. We literally had to scrap the meat out of the shells. We love crablegs and eat them quite often and we have never had them stick like that.

I like Cape May but I am not a crab leg fan so can't comment on them. Worst case, promise him you'll take him somewhere for crabs legs when you get home if they don't meet is expectations.

I was also wondering this as we are deciding between CMCB and Ohana's in a few weeks..thanks....

We just ate at Cape May on March 23rd. Mostly, I ate crab legs. They were excellent.

:goodvibes thanks everyone, just for comparison sake, DS loves the snow crab at Joes Crab Shack...I figure Cape May is a fairly safe bet of being equivalent...double the cost, but you know...and I appreciate the descriptions, it really does help!We have never eaten there so it will be fun just trying something new.

We have eaten at Cape May many times over the years and my DH said this was the best time ever (March). He really enjoyed the crab legs, mussels, and clams.

We love love going to cape may for dinner. The food is so good, crab legs are yummmmmy and I cannot get enough of the oreo bon bons. We did notice last time (maybe it was just that particular day) but the mussels were not as good as in the past. They were decent, but not as good as before. Did anyone notice this as well?

It's great to hear that people are enjoying the crab legs. Does anybody know what the non holiday pricing is on the buffet right now? Thanks, we have made up our mind to give this place a try:goodvibes

...Are the crab legs available every night?
Just wondering, thinking of eating here on our next trip, but would hate to be disappointed by the absence of crab legs! :scared1:

Based on the online menu, crab legs are regularly on the buffet. We make our ADR's tomorrow and now I'm really looking forward to our first dinner @Cape May. DDIL and I are crab leg lovers!

We have CMC booked for our trip in Sept, however I was also able to get Ohana for the same night (at 8:50, jsut in time to watch Wishes)....so has anyone done both of these, which would you go back to?

I know usually these questions are depending on personal prefrences but would love ot hear what everyone has to say!

Is it a traditional buffet? Salad bar. Dessert bar. Soups etc????
Yes, but with a distinct leaning toward seafood. Dinner at Cape May Cafe is themed after a traditional New England clambake. The buffet is divided into an American side, with meat and potatoes, and a seafood side, with mussels, clams and crab legs. Clam chowder is available every night, and there is a large salad bar and dessert bar.

My family loves seafood, so we enjoy Cape May. It's not our favorite restaurant, but we eat there every couple years. There are plenty of options for landlubbers, but I don't think it's worth making a reservation unless your party enjoys shellfish. It's the restaurant's specialty and what makes it unique.

To address the previous poster, I suggest sticking with 'Ohana. I think it's a better restaurant. Watching Wishes is a wonderful added bonus. It's so difficult to secure a table at 'Ohana, especially compared to Cape May, so it may be possible to try both. But if you have to choose, I suggest 'Ohana.

I am not a seafood kind of gal, but I went with a seafood lover and she was eating everything in sight and LOVED it, including the crab legs. I enjoyed it and could find enough items that I would eat that it worked out fine for me (salad, pasta, dessert...). I love Cape May for Breakfast, too, and dinner did not disappoint me.

If I wasn't into seafood or with someone who was, I wouldn't go though.

We took several people who were NOT seafood lovers to Cape May. My niece is the crab leg lover so we picked it for her (and me.) Turns out that it was the favorite restaurant of my mom, sister, and both nieces. And we took them to Jiko, Cali Grill, Yachtsmen steakhouse, etc. for comparison purposes. They loved the food at Cape May (excellent meats in addition to the seafood and the best mashed potato and gravy anywhere at WDW). But what they REALLY loved was the dessert bar. Personally, I ate crab legs and skipped dessert completely as there just wasn't any room for more food.

I would take anyone to Cape May based on my relatives' reactions. Meat lovers as well as seafood lovers.

We did both on our trip and I would pick Ohana over the clambake.

The Cape May Clam Bake at the Beach Club and Ohana are our top two favorite restaurants at WDW. We do both as it would be hard to pick one over the other. Both have served us consistently excellent meals throughout our Disney World visits.

The steamed seafood is the main attraction, but there are plenty of other delicious things to enjoy at Cape May. The soups and salads are always very good, and so are the ribs. And of course, there are those yummy desserts. :)
