Just got back - we were at CC on 3/18/05 and the air temperature seemed cool - probably 72 when we arrived maybe 85 by the end of the day. It was very windy however, and kids were running around in sweatshirts (purchased at the CC store!). Water was chilly when you first got in but quickly warmed up. We swam all day and other than a chill when getting out and drying off, were fine. The Caymans and Cozumel were very hot both days we were there and humid.
CC was very pleasant and so I think it will all depend on the air temperature but the water seemed fine.
We were there on 3/12 and it was quite chilly. The temperature was 71 and the water temp was 71. It was overcast and breezy. We moved our bannana boat ride from 10:30am to 1:30pm to try to get some warmer weather. It didn't really get warmer, so, I donned my wet suit that I had brought with me just in case. I was fine and everyone else was cold. We did not go snorkeling or swimming as it was just too cold.
We were there on 3/15 and the weather was beautiful. We thought the water temerature was perfect, but then again we're from New England and are used to swimming in some very cold water.
Check out this web site....looks like water temps in April is about 76 degree average....we sail in Nov./Dec. and temps are similar. It's a little chilly at first but once you are in the water is great.....
I think how it feels depends on what you're used to. We went in Feb. Many people said it was COLD in the water--but for us it was much warmer than we are used to. I think it was about 70 or so. You get used to it very quick.
