I'm starting to plan a possible trip to Disneyland in April. We went last year and stayed at BWPPI which was ideal being right across the street. I've been looking at Stovall's though, as they're much cheaper and looks like a nicer pool area. I did a search but there doesn't seem to be too many recent reviews. Also, is the walk over as short as people say? I can't quite figure out where the cut through GC is? Thanks for any help in helping me visualize!

So, it's been a little while since I stayed at Stovall's, but I will be staying there for D23 next week, so I can update then. Last time I was there was in 2015 and it was okay. The beds were a little hard and the room was slightly dark. I was unlucky and had a room with a busted key card reader. But, most of the rooms did not have that issue. It's fairly quiet most of the time and there's a free breakfast, which a lot of other places nearby do not have. I didn't think the walk was bad. It's maybe 10-15 minutes. Most of it is through Disney property, so it's nice and feels safe. There is one area that isn't too frequented by guests once you pass PPH, but I still felt fine walking through there at 1AM by myself. I don't know if you can still walk through GCH with the new security measures, but you used to go through the main lobby and cut across to the exit at the far end near the park entrances. Even without that "shortcut", it's not a bad walk.

It's about a one mile walk from BW Stovalls to the Esplanade. You can no longer cut through the GCH.

We have stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn many times. Always like staying there. Last year we stayed at Stovall's and we liked it there as well. Our room was nice, not as big though. We were on the top floor and toward the back of the property so it was quiet. It definitely was not as good as far as the walk but it was still fine. The cost was a good trade off though.

I stayed there last month for one night. I got a crazy good rate of $60 incl taxes on LMTClub.com so I figured I'd try it out. It was fine! I was worried about the walk in the morning but it only took about 10min to walk over to the DLH security entrance and I sailed right through at 7:30am on a Sat morning. You can cut through the GCH on the walk back: If you are in DL you will walk through DtD, past World of Disney and enter the GCH breezeway just after Sephora. Follow the signs to the lobby and walk out the front doors, take a left on the path that runs along the driveway to Disneyland Dr., then take another left and continue down to Katella. From DCA you can exit the park directly into GCH near Grizzly River Run. Follow the signs to the lobby.

I thought the rooms were nice, very clean and I didn't find the bed hard at all. The breakfast area was a zoo that morning with stuff all over the place and not much room to move around. I grabbed a cinnamon roll and got the heck out of there!

BW stovall is our go-to hotel, we have stayed there several times and just recently in May when I ran Tinkerbell! We haven't had any issues other than our last stay the Wi-Fi wasn't working (all 7 days) and we had to purchase a data plan (we are from Canada) so hubby could do some work in the room, they gave us a credit back to cover us having to purchase the data plan!
for breakfast I typically go down, get what we need then go back up the to room to eat -- the eating area can be a zoo and I prefer not to bring the entire family so we can get ready at our own pace while enjoying breakfast!
the distance to the parks is slightly longer now that you can't get in thru GCH but that is more than worth is when it comes to security checks! we have never waited more than 10min to get thru security between earl of sandwich and ESPN, i have seen and heard the lines on the harbor side can get up to 25+min on busy days! I'd rather spend the time walking thru DTD or taking the monorail into the park vs standing in the harbor security line -- JMO!
on our way back to the hotel after the parks we all ways cut thru GCH either by going thru the turnstiles across from grizzly rapids in DCA or thru the breezeway after Sephora!!
