Looking over what I have so far for the kids for Christmas and I realized that I am lacking both a large gift and a 'wow' gift for DD4. She's asking for a zhu zhu castle and that's not happening but I was thinking about maybe some other kind of castle. Looking to keep it relatively cheap but also fun. She is getting some of the Magicclip princesses and also some Barbie princesses so looking for a castle recommendation.

I am curios why not the zhu zhu castle? My DD had one and loved hers. Amazon has two different zhu zhu castles. One is 30.00 and the other is the Heart version which is only 14.00.

This season a big seller right now is the Little People Disney Princess castle. It is 40.00 but you have to buy the Disney Princesses separately from the castle. A pack of the princesses is around 14.00 I think.

I have no idea how big you're looking (I think zhu zhu's are small, but barbies are big), BUT I got an unfinished castle that opens up at Michaels for about $15-$20. My son and I painted it ourselves, and if she's a crafty girl, she might have lots of fun decorating it.

We just got the Little People castle last week for DD's first birthday! Both her and my son LOVE it!

If I am looking at it correctly, the zhu zhu castle is basically a plastic bowl with a door and a castle looking piece of plastic stuck to the front. I know my child well enough to know that I can just skip straight to the bowl for a lot less than $14 and she will be happier. She wants a castle that does stuff. She even said the LP one looks boring :(. She has a Disney Polly Pocket type castle at my grandparents house and I think she is looking for something similar to that in the way of activities.
I will look into a wooden decorate your own type thing. She is really big on decorating right now so that might be the route to go.
I really wanted either kid to want the LP castle but neither one showed any interest. I don't think even the people from our LP sets have been touched in weeks now :faint:.

And, I think that a castle is a great idea at your DD's age. My DD is also 4 and is getting a castle for Christmas. My parents bought her a Playmobil one, otherwise, I think I would consider the Melissa and Doug or maybe something by LeToyVan as their stuff is pretty sturdy and whimsical. I agree that the Little People castle is probably a little young for her. I love it and actually wish that all of the Little People Princess sets had come out a couple of years ago. (The LP Ariel carriage is darling too!) I would have absolutely bought that line for my daughter when she was around 2 but I think, by 4, the amount of play value left is about a year.

We got this one for DD for Christmas last year.
Disney Dream Castle
They go on sale every now and then, and I picked it up for $80.
It fits the barbie-sized princess dolls, so the princesses, the barbies and the Monster High girls are room mates!

I am cheating for Christmas this year and bought the My Little Pony wedding castle for $25. My girls have been asking for a castle and they like the ponies, so I figured it can do double duty.
