Rebooking Question

We are doing our first ABD trip next summer and I was just wondering if they do something similar to the cruise line for rebooking a trip. Do you get any sort of a discount if you book within a certain time after you have done a trip?

No, there used to be an early booking discount and that went away a few years ago now they have various incentives, I did get a small discount this year as a returning guest. There were also posts about a discount that was available but I don't remember all the details. The offers change year to year so what is available this year may not be available next year.

One thing you have to remember is the past 2 years they have published the new Itineraries in May, as a trip starts to book the rates go up.

This year, some people got an offer for 5% off if they rebooked within 2 weeks after returning from their trip. I didn't get that offer. There was also a $100 return guest discount. You can't count on anything from year to year. It's never the same.

A little insight into how few quests have to book before the price goes up...I booked our 2014 trip at the introductory price on June 1 and including the two of us there were 4 people booked. The price has gone up twice since then (it's $310 pp higher). I called this week and there are 9 guests booked. That really surprised me it had gone up that much with so few guests. I don't know if this is typical.

I think that seems to be typical. When we booked the Prague, Germany, Austria trip it had gone up $200/pp and there were 8 booked at the time. We did receive the $100 return guest discount and they retroactively gave us the 5% rebooking discount (we booked the Europe trip before we went on the ABD this year).

Thanks for the info! I'm glad we were able to get the 5% discount on the cruise now. Every little bit helps. I'm from Canada so normally we would have to book through a travel agent, but I was just recently on the Fantasy and being in international waters they were able to book everything for me. I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens in the future.

I am betting the rates go up based on the number of rooms that are booked not the number of guests that are booked.

This may have happened before but I never noticed it. The price of the July 12, 2014 Ireland trip was the first date to have the price go up. Now it's gone back down. I guess somebody cancelled.
