Rebel Alliance - Thankful for each other in November (and every month)

Hi all. I hope that the mileage ramp up for Jan is going well for everyone. I have been running more frequently. For a few years I was running every other day but found that if I missed a day or two, it might be 4 or 5 days that I wouldn't run. Now I am running about 5 days a week. The mileage is about the same for now. I feel better when I go out than I did with more rest. The runs are easier to get in to now. Again, I hope everyone is doing well.

Here I am at work, drinking my french vanilla coffee and looking out the window and it is snowing :scared1:. I did not want snow before December 20, once my long runs are over. Why? Why?
Anyway, I did a 5 k run this morning just before the rain; it was foggy and very humid.
Saturday is a day off but I am working overtime and Sunday is my long run. I hope the snow will have time to disappear because I want to go back on the bike trail where it is flat.
40 days and I will be with Mickey :cool1:

Sorry I haven't been very chatty recently. Things have been crazy between work, training, and other such stuff. I have been continuing to move forward with my Goofy training. This week wasn't too awesome mileage wise as I missed my Tuesday run but I did get in an 18 miler yesterday. Next week is my next back-to-back. Going for 9 on Friday and 18 on Saturday. I can't believe there are only 3 more training weeks before taper!

Well, I just finished my 7th day of running in a row. They were all relatively short runs as I am just interested in getting a streak going without getting injured. I have not done a run over 3.5 miles this week.

Hi all!

Last weeks long run was 9 miles-had an AWESOME run!! Felt like I could have kept going. Today was a 7 miler, a bit faster pace than last week, but a good run too. We have been very fortunate here in the northeast with the weather, cool/cold (low to mid 30's) but sun or some clouds. No precipitation to deal with yet.

Next week we ramp up, doing 9, 10 and 11 in the next 3 weeks. Then we taper. Still hoping the weather holds out.

Ran the Turkey Trot on thursday, my best time yet, 32:27. Not bad for a 50lb overweight short girl:rolleyes:. Again, I am not built for speed, but I can do distances okay. Just like the Energizer bunny;)

Going to Fleet Feet on Friday to get fitted for new shoes. These will be a gift from FIL for christmas. He says I can have them now or wait. Question is, should I start wearing them now, with 5 weeks until the half, or should I wait a while? I am very fortunate in that most any shoe I buy I can wear right away with no blistering or problems. I am thinking of using them now, as my feet are sending me signals that my current shoes may be on the way out.

How worn are your current shoes. If your current shoes need to be retired then by all means go ahead and wear the new ones. If you still have a few miles left on the new ones I would started alternating in the new pair to get a little mileage on them and at least 1 long run before the half. You want to get a few runs in them just to be sure that there are no manufacturer defects in them that might sneak up on you.

I could not do my long run this week-end because I had to work both days in overtime. I guess it is more money for January.
So after 2 days of no running, I went this morning for an easy 5k. When I left it was raining and after 10 minutes it was snowing. And it did not feel like an easy run, not at all. Anyway, it's in the bank.
This week, I do less mileage so my long run is only 12k. :upsidedow Who would have guess that one day I would write only 12K:lmao:.
I just noticed that I am over 100 posts. Time to celebrate
I can't believe that tomorrow is the first of December.
Back to the football game.

I got these shoes in September, ran my first half marathon in them and have been training for Donald since late September. They look great, but my left foot is feeling sore on the outside, so I am thinking it might be time for new ones. Now I will say that I have been fortunate that I can buy the shoes, put them on and run in them with no issues. But I am going to get re-measured and try on some other brands, check out what is new. I may just stick with the brand I have (saucony) but it doesn't hurt to try out new models of other brands.

 Got my envelope from Disney Magical Express today. Less than 35 days and I will be at Disney.:dance3:
I could not resist but I order another pair of shoe today. The Asics I order were $100.00 cheaper in the States than in Canada :scared1:. I really would like someone to explain to me how is that possible since it is the same model: Asics kanyo 15.
And tomorrow (well only 15 minutes left today) it is supposed to be around 50F but windy. I think I have moved down south and nobody told me :upsidedow
Have a nice one or a nice sleep...

The weather has really been helping out here in New England. It has been unseasonsbly warm and great for running outside. Hope everyone is gearing up for Jan!

Good evening team,
I went for my medium run this morning (it was only 7.5 milles: ONLY :lmao:) and I am very lucky because there is still no snow on the ground so I was able to run on the bike trail. It went pretty well.
Yesterday I had a really big panic attack. I saw the thread of bib number, so I went to check it out and could not find my name :scared1:. I wrote track shack but naturally no answer. Then I tried again and the web site for checking our bib number was not there anymore and I saw on the Goofy thread a post by Katie saying that most likely they had not finished assigning the bib numbers. I do have the confirmation that I am registerd and now I will wait to check when it will be on the official marathon week-end website. And hoping to have an answer from my e-mail.
Have a nice week-end, back to the SEC football game.

Diane

Definitely no reason to panic Diane. Track Shack has assured several people that contacted them at they are not done assigning the numbers and that they will be done soon and send out an e-mail letting everyone know that they are available.

My 18 miles today turned into 13.5. We started out in a drenching rain which turned into a heavy snow. So we were cold and trying to dodge puddles. Then we hit a point where the weight of the snow had pulled the bamboo and a branch or two down over the trail. Took that as a sign that mother nature did not want us to conitnue. Glad we stopped when we did because when I started to warm back up my skin was really getting painfully tingly. Right now I am sitting covered with a comforter trying to get myself warmed up.

Ran (well sort of;)) a 5k with DD this morning, her very first one. She finished in 49:20, not bad for only 8 weeks of training and only training one day per week (this was for her Girls on the Run program). We walked quite a bit, pacing is lost on her at this point. Once we got home, it started snowing and is still snowing. We weren't supposed to get any accumulation, but there is at least 2 inches out there. We are scheduled for a 9 miler tomorrow, decision will be made tomorrow morning on location. If the snow sticks to the bike path, we may need to run on the roads instead. We shall see.

I got my bib # and today we received one of our Disney packets, don't know why we didn't get for both rooms but oh well. Something else to look forward to in the mail.

My long run for the week is done: it was 11.5 miles. I have never run that far before. It wasn't easy because there was 1" of snow on the ground and after a couple of miles my shoes and socks were so wet. I wanted to stop a couple of times but I was saying to myself just go another 5 minutes and I would feel better so I went the whole distance.
You were right Katie about not panicking about not finding my bib number. I received good news from Disneysports today: they told me not too worry because I am registerd and I am now waiting for them to put the bib number on the web site:banana:.
I had a headache this afternoon and I think it is because I am not drinking enough during my long run. I will have to take care of that next time.
Have a nice evening.
Diane

:cool1: I have my bib number for the half and the 5k. 30 days before my dream comes true.
Now what will i wear for the races: I am pretty sure I will bring shorts and short sleeve shirt because right now in 30F weather I wear long pant and a long sleeve shirt. We will see.

Diane

The last 3 posts are mine. I guess that is what happens when I am off for 4 days :lmao:.
It is still snowing this morning. I went for an easy run this morning after my long run yesterday and it was so slow. I don't know how the Goofy people do to run a marathon after a half-marathon. All I can say is :worship:.
This afternoon I played outside with my dog while I was shoveling snow. 6" of snow is expected tomorrow with wind. It will be fun to go back to work.
Lucky for me, I don't have to run before Friday.
Have a nice evening. Maybe I will be back

Diane:donald:

Hi all.
It has been snowing like crazy here so all my running has been inside. I managed to run for 30 minutes (my longest ever) on Saturday. I followed it up with a half hour on the treadmill. I way more excited about running than I ever thought I would be. At first it really was not fun. But now that I can do a half hour (very slowly, but still jogging) I feel really good about it. I plan to keep working on it. I have a half marathon scheduled in February. I am hoping I will be able to run most of it. Though my last half took 3 hours (all walking), so it may not happen :-)

Is it crazy to train in minus 10F and a light wind? I think it is but that has not stop me to do my run. I did stop short one mile because I went by my house and I just could not go one more feet. My water was frozen and my powergel also. I was thinking to do the Princess half-marathon in march 2011 but I don't know how I would train for long distance in January and February.
Other than the weather the training for the Donald is going pretty well. I have one more long distance next week and that will be it.
I have start to put stuff in my suitcase: I think it will be pretty empty going down but full when I will return from Disney. I plan to buy everything that is related to the half-marathon :rotfl:. I guess my wallet will be lighter on the way back.

Have a nice day
Diane:santa:

Hey guys... sorry about my unforeseen absence! I haven't been getting out there and moving since my hip and spine have been bugging me since I had salmonella this August. Talk about a Debbie Downer! As lots of you know, I'm pretty darn active and to not be doing much as really gotten me down. Hope all is well with the team and everyone is doing GREAT!!!! Oh, and I hope everyone got what they wanted for the holidays :goodvibes
