Rebel Alliance - Thankful for each other in November (and every month)

Got out for an easy 5 miles this morning. My legs were not entirely happy with me the first mile or so but eventually they gave in and I had a decent run.

Disney Mommy~ You can DO IT!!!! :)

Mandac~ Yay for week 4!!! You're rocking it!

And woo hoo for more miles in ladies!!!

Last night I picked up my new bike trainer so I can ride inside (cause its cold outside and I'm a wimp!) while watching tv (well, that's the plan at least)
Anyone have experience with an indoor bike trainer? Any advice so I don't get bored with it?

Way to get back at it DisMom.

I was in a horrible mood yesterday and I think that it was because I wanted to run and coudn't. Today I went out for 3.5 abd never got into it. My legs stayed stiff and berathing was hard. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I did 2 one mile repeats today as I simply didn't have time for more. Had to squeez it in the time between waking up and my wife going to work. I forgot my watch but they were in the 8:30 range.

How'd you do today?

Yesterday I did 2 miles on the treadmill in 20 minutes... but today my hip is killing me (yet again). Anybody have any recommendations? I've been to the doctor, they did a cat scan and couldn't find anything besides one of my hips is higher than the other... could that be causing the pain? I've been recommended to go to a chiropractor but they weird me out for some reason. Will they really help?

I have a friend that can run on the street just fine, but as soon as she gets on the treadmill her hip starts bothering her. I think it has to do with how the treadmill changes her natural stride.

Checking in with spin class this morning. Tonight I have a session scheduled with a personal trainer. Wish me luck!

Most roads are crowned so that the rain water will run off. When we run against traffic, the left leg will be slightly lower than the right. After a while the body will adjust. Going back to the TM can be a tough ajustment.

As far as the chiropractor, I have seen one since I was in 10th grade. It's pushing 20 years now. Every once in a while, I will go even if nothing hurts. Mostly, I will go after a big mileage day to put everything back where it belongs. Having good insurance also helps. I wouls highly recommend it.

Hi all,
I am reading through the posts for inspiration. It has been a couple weeks since I have run. I hurt my back and now have a cold. I have decided that I need to get myself a treadmill to continue. Then I won't have to worry about running at night by myself or taking sick kids to the gym. Now I just hope I can figure out what I want before I give up running completely.

OK I am up to 15k or running 10:1. This is my longest run in the last 2 years. The worst was the first 10 minutes :rotfl:. I don't know why but everything was hurting. Maybe it was the fact that it was 26F when I start and it was foggy. But after that it went as well as expected for someone doing her long run.
And I saw 2 female deers: they were quite jumpy since it is hunting season up here.
After a nap in the afternoon, I went outside to play with the dogs and watched them run after the squirrels and the 3 turkeys that come to pay a visit every day.
Tomorrow is a day of rest.

Have a nice evening
Diane

This is the first week of back-to-back long runs in prep for Goofy. Started the first back-to-back today with an 8 mile long run around my neighborhood. Heading out tomorrow to run 16 miles with running group. Going to concentrate on keeping the legs loose for the rest of the day.

Today was a day of rest. No running and no working.:upsidedow
Tomorrow I have a 5k scheduled and I begin my week of work.

Diane

Good evening or early morning Rebel.
Yabadabadou! My hills are done for this week: 6 total. And it went pretty well. It was a bit windy but going up the hills I was protected by trees. Total mileage: 5 miles.
Tomorrow morning, in about 7 hours :rotfl2: I will wake up to go for an easy 6k run. I have never train that much for an event and more regularly and I can start to feel the change. It is nice to see some small reward.

Diane~ You're doing great!!!

Last night I did a 30 spin session from itrain.. loved it! Went about 7 miles on the bike

How's everyone else doing??

I haven't checked in for a while. I am starting week 5 of C25K today. Doing pretty good so far.

I had one of those generally not so awesome runs this morning. I leave for FL in the morning to go down and do the Women's Running Magazine Half Marathon. I still have one more run before the race, so I am hoping it goes better than this morning did. :P

Good luck on your half Katie!
I did W5D1 of C25K yesterday - not so bad! Trying to stick to it and keep the minutes and miles coming.

Wow Ladies - you all seem to be really keeping at it.

Diane - great dedication.

Katie - Good luck this weekend!

Suzann - loving the itrain? Good to hear it's fun.

Manda - Can you believe how quickly the weeks go by?

AFM, i have an upper respiratory infection. On another 10 days of some crazy antibiotic. Can't breathe through my nose so no running. Oh - and a side effect of this antibiotic is damage to your tendons. They say it 3 times on the packaging so they mean business. So I'm sitting around and just reading about running again.

Should be up and ready next week though. Crossing my fingers.

Keep up the great week!

Good evening team,
Today was a day of rest but yesterday I did a 6k and it went pretty well. The weather is still nice in Québec and we are not expecting any snow yet. So it is easier to train.
Katie- Good luck in your half-marathon. I saw the medal on the women's running magazine and it is pretty cool.
For those of you sick, hurt, etc: take care pixiedust:

Diane

Hi Running Rebels-

Katie-good luck with your half.

Diane-great job on the training. Isn't it nice that the weather has been holding out for us here in the northeast? Hoping it doesn't snow until Jan 18 (day after I am back from my cruise).

Manda-good job on the c25k!! keep up the good work.

Hope everyone else is doing well, feeling good, if not feel better soon!!

So as much as I *hate* the treadmill, it seems to be working to my advantage. My times for running outside are markedly faster than before I started doing 2-3 runs per week on the TM. Now I set the TM to 5mph (so 12 min/mile) but to me it seems much faster. When I run outside, I am running consistently 10:30 pace for all my 3 milers and even did it for my last 6 miler. Who knew?

Have a 9 miler on sunday, hoping for a clear sunny morning, don't mind the cold so much, but ice, snow or rain really put a damper on things.

Good morning,
My long run of the week is done and it was a 16k or 10 miles. I have never run this far and it went ok. I would say that the last 15 minutes was not easy. At least the weather was good: cloudy and 42F.
I have started to watch the weather in Orlando and I like the fact that it goes down to the 40 during the night. I guess I will bring my running short with me in January.
Have a nice week-end.
Diane
