I debated whether or not to start one of these. I have enjoyed reading other peoples' for months now and with May around the corner Im late in the game. I figured I'll go ahead and start one though even if it's just for me in helping get my thoughts and 'to do's' straight.

I'm Rebecca and I'm marrying Wes on May 7th, 2011. We are both from Atlanta and have been together almost 4 years now. We met the end of our sophomore year in college through our younger brothers strangely enough. His brother and mine played on the same high school freshman baseball team and we met when he came to pick his brother up from my house one night. We ended up talking that summer at the games and started dating. With me at the University of Georgia and him playing college ball at Kennesaw State 2 hours away our relationship consisted of lots of driving on weekends. Mostly me anyway since he was at the mercy of a college baseball schedule. Finally we graduated and thought it meant all the time in the world together. As it would happen though, I took a job as a commercial lender that began with a ten month training program in North Carolina, and while it was a great opportunity it meant more weekend trips with him working as a financial analyst here in Atlanta.

In April last year, four months into the program, I came home one weekend and being completely blindsided when he proposed. Wes knows I am obsessed with watching home videos from growing up and he suggested we put one in that night. The home screen of this video was unfamiliar to me and suddenly it began playing one of 'our' songs and had a slideshow of pictures of us together from the past three years. Once it started I knew something was going on and saw out of the corner of my eyes two cameras on the book shelves as if I was being recorded. Well, he got the whole thing on video as he did his 'speech' and got down on one knee. Im the biggest baby ever and of course cried. I 100% had no idea since I thought he would do it over the summer during our upcoming trip to Mexico and since we had never gone ring shopping. I couldn't have loved it more though. Afterwards, both of our families were downstairs to celebrate with us.

We knew early that Disney was an option for the reception mainly because most of my family lives far away anyway and because the service at Disney cannot be beat! We had annual passes growing up when my family lived in Florida for two years and have kept coming back. In the end, it was between a vineyard here in metro Atlanta or Disney. Last May we took a trip down to Orlando to tour the facilities and when we stepped outside onto the Whitehall pavilion with the Magic Kingdom in the distance we knew we wanted it there.

Now, I'm back from NC and the planning is in full gear (as it has been the last 7 months I guess :) Our ceremony is at 1pm with our cocktail hour beginning at 6pm. I am Catholic so we will be having the ceremony at a church in Orlando and the reception at Grand FLoridian following the cocktail hour at Whitehall. The space in time stinks but there was nothing we could do about it :) In the end, it will be nice to have plenty of time to take pictures in between the two and we will be able to enjoy the cocktail hour with all our family and friends which I've seen many couples not get to do. We are expecting about 130 people and are soooooo excited for the day!

Our bridal party has 6 bridesmaids: My MOH and sister, Brittany. My cousin, Robin. My close friends since we were 6, Katie and Kristina. My newest best friend from my training program, Morgan. And my 13 year old cousin, Tiffany who is a junior bridesmaid. ... and 6 groomsmen: Wes' brother is is best man, one of his cousins is a groomsman, as well as two of his close friends and my two younger brothers. We have a flower girl and ring bearer, both cousins of mine.

That's it for now! Wow, I really dragged that out... I cannot believe how much I could write in one sitting so quickly! I look forward to posting updates with pictures, etc and joining in the fun with all the other brides!

So, since we have been engaged a while now, we have already completed our planning session and received our BOE. Our planner is Amy and I love her. Warren is our florist and I love him equally! I was concerned that with such Little time with them and planning out of state they wouldnt be able to have a clear idea of my vision- I think i was wrong. They seem to completely get what I'm looking for.

We don't really have any theme for our wedding. I wish I could think of one I like enough. You could say our centerpieces are a theme in and of itself. They were taken from a Preston Bailey party planning book I saw years ago and were the only thing I ever knew about my wedding prior to getting engaged. The room was mostly done up in gold with huge fountaining white tulips. I'm in love with the idea. Similarly, our colors are gold and purple. The bridesmaids will be wearing purple gowns by Jim Hjelm. I'm still working with Warren on the linens to make sure they are just right. I'm leaning towards gold organza but I want to see some pictures first. I love sleek, clean lines so anything rusched is out, but Im not a fan of satin either... so it becomes a difficult decision.

I am especially excited tonight because our invitation order is finally in! This is a huge weight off my shoulders as I know I put this off til last minute. I really didn't think I cared so much about paper but my mother is the queen of etiquette and insists on certain things like letterpress or thermography! I still don't mind just doing digital printing but when I found myself falling in love with a gold, monogrammed vellum I was reminded I'm my mother's daughter. The cost of paper is absurd. If I were as gifted as some of the girls on this site I could do it. I would cry every day of my life working on such a high-pressure project! I'll post some pictures as soon as this site let's me since it says I need ten posts first. ???

If anyone can tell me how to post a picture in this it would be helpful:). It says I need to put the URL address in. What if I have something saved on my computer?

Thanks for all the sweet replies.

This weekend my sister and I talked a lot about the bachelorette party. We are planning on going down to Florida Wednesday night before the wedding so that Thursday night we could have the bachelorette party in Epcot to 'drink around the world.' it will also be cinco de mayo! As part of my gift to my bridesmaids I was going to get them the ticket to epcot for the day. The plan was to spend half the day doing all the attractions at the park, then go back to the hotel around 1-2pm and change for the night, go back to the park and go 'around the world.' I know it may be kind of a pain to change in between but I'd hate to spend the night hanging out in my tank top, shorts, and flip flops. Anyway, my sister was doing some research and lots of the people who have done this kind of thing before suggested beginning early as it takes all day??? I realize it would be hard to consume that much in a short period of time, but beginning at 4 would give us 5 hours and us girls are not huge drinkers. And so if we decide we have to skip out on the last country, big deal right?

If any one has gone drinking 'around the world' before and have input I'd love to hear it! Ideally we could enjoy both the rides and the world showcase. I just don't know how much time we should allot?

Also, today I received my shoes in the mail...

I don't think this picture is working. Why can't you just copy and paste a picture into this?

Beautiful shoes!

My fiance and I go "drinking around the world" everytime we make a trip to Disney. It's alot of fun. Although I always get stuck on Italy because I want to stay by most of the wine and I'm not big into beer :)
I'd probably allow a good bit of time for this. If youre planning on doing the rides, it would probably be an all day thing. We usually hit the rides first and then when it starts to get dark head to the countries. It will take awhile to get around the world, especially from stopping at all of the countries and hanging around a bit.
This year we will be at the food and wine festival. I'm so excited!! I haven't been during this time ever, and hopefully I dont drink and eat too much around the world :rotfl:

Hi hi! Jumping right into your PJ!

DH and I have done the drinking around the world during the food and wine festival with our friends before and it has taken us the whole day (starting at 11, we first hit Hollywood Studios and then hopped on over to Epcot). Of course, this is when they have the different food booths out etc so we would stop at each country, buy one thing, share, sample, buy a drink, do an attraction, take photos, maybe listen to a band, goof off, and then move on. After all that we ended up with a big group dinner at Biertgarten and had a blast!

I think that if you go and change mid-day you should be just fine, just remember, there will be time lost in transit, getting to your rooms, people changing, getting back together, back to the park etc etc, so you could end up back at the park about 2 to 3 hours after you left depending on how easy/difficult your group is to wrangle. I would just take it easy and just have fun and go with the flow.

We never left the park, we just wore very comfy shoes, brought water, hats plenty of sunscreen and took a breather under the trees while sampling some food every other country so we didn't burn out or end up with a massive headache

I don't think this picture is working. Why can't you just copy and paste a picture into this?

You actually have to get the url from the picture using a specific website. As you can't just add a picture in. I use Photobucket

You have to make an account (it is free) and then you can download and add pictures from your desktop and other websites, and then you use that URL and insert the image on here.

Does that make sense? :)

I would love to drink around the world! I think that would probably take me several days... haha :goodvibes

Hi love the shoes!!!
You arrive in Florida on mt VR day!!
I know that 'cinco de mayo' is 5th May, but does it have a special significance? Please excuse my ignorance, but I am from UK and we clearly don't have it here.
Your plans sound wonderful!! Looking forward to reading more :thumbsup2

Oh, WOW! Thank you so much sw33t_angel! I am cleary technologically declined :(

Well, those are the bridesmaids dresses! I let them each pick their own style and we got them in the dark purple color. My bridesmaids on the far left and the tall, blonde are wearing the right colors.

and here are my shoes I got sent yesterday. I really debated about doing these in purple but I was afraid they would take away from my dress. I'm glad now I went with the ivory.

I have my first fitting tonight and Im sooooooo excited right now! I went to Victorias Secret yesterday to get a good push-up for my dress and the form fitting, seamless underwear since they told me to wear everything that I'd be wearing underneath the dress to the fitting. My mom is coming with me and my dad! He will see it for the first time today so I'm really pumped! I also have to decide on my veil today which is a bit of a stress. I'm not a fan of veils to be honest. I want to wear one for the ceremony just because when else would you where one but honestly I'm afraid of feeling like a bee keeper. We'll see what happens. Here is my dress though (the DF was warned already NEVER to look at this site :))

lazaro-wedding-gown-2010-2011.jpg

It's a Lazaro. I got it in August with my mom, sister and nana. I actually got it at Bridals by Lori which is where they do Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta. It was my fourth place trying on dresses and it was the first dress I tried on there. No dress up to that point had made me emotional, so when I started to tear up I KNEW it was the one!

Also, I got a sequin belt that goes around the mid section to have some kind of 'bling' on it. I'll have to post some pictures of it after my fitting tonight. I haven't seen it since August so I need to be reminded what it looks like!

Glad you figured it out!! Those shoes are beautiful!!! :D Much too high for me, but who makes them?

They are by Badgley Mischka. I got them off Piperlime. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the height not being as bad as I had read. I mean, they are still 4 inches but I was really afraid of being taller than my dad and I'm already 5'9 so Im definitely tall in them, but we actually ended up being about the same height with the shoes on (tested it last night :)). Luckily, my fiance is 6'4'' so I don't have to worry about that at least.

Welcome! Just started reading, as I saw we have the same wedding day! Can't wait to read more about your plans. Almost to that 100 day mark!!!!!
