I'll also recommend Mike's Pastry. It was suggested to me for my trip back in September and it was wonderful. My friend and I each got a cannoli (lots of kinds to choose from) and they were fantastic!!! I mean, killer fantastic!! Great neighborhood, too!
Do take the kids to the USS Constitution Museum. A great, historic ship they can really enjoy the museum with lots of hands-on exhibits. The Duck Tours were a lot of fun, too. If you have an evening free, I'd recommend Blue Man Group at the Charles Theatre. Good for the whole family.
