Hi DISboards friends!
I have a funny feeling my DH will be all too unhappy to learn that I'm doing a PTR about dining. He has practically banned the use of my iPhone on our upcoming vacation (but what about my Disney Mobile Magic app and Disney wait times app and my DISboards app?!? :confused3)

ANYWAY, I am in the anxious waiting-for-vacation-to-get-here mode and have been reading lots of great dining reviews lately, so I've decided to do a dining report.

Here is the cast:
:yoda: DH 40's/loves WDW, animation, STAR WARS and his family!
:tinker: Me 37 but will turn 38 on the trip. I love all things DISNEY! Plus my hubby and kids and love being in WDW with them.
:earsboy: DS age 9 but turning 10 on the trip; Star Wars, Phineas and Ferb and Mickey fan! Loves Mickey bars.
:earsgirl: DD 8; loves magic, princesses and fairies! (And some Phineas and Ferb, too).

We have been to WDW way too much for some and not enough for others! We are at the end of our annual passes, and might renew, but we are not sure yet. We are doing a split stay....we are staying for 11 nights and we wanted to stay at POR but also at WL. Well, to save some $ and get the best of both, we decided on a split between POR with the DXDP and WL (staying CL but DH doesn't know as I'm surprising him with that!).

So, the DX plan, in July/August.....no worries, I've got it covered.
Here goes!

Arrival day:
We will get to Orlando by 2:30pm barring any flight delays and I have dinner our first night at Boatright's (1 cr). Looking forward to the cornbread and pecan pie.

Our first full day:
Crystal Palace for breakfast. We have an ADR before the park opens because I just LOVE being in the MK before it gets crowded. Plus we haven't had breakfast at CP in a few years and I miss it. (1 cr).

No lunch planned - probably just snacks.

Dinner is at Yachtsman's Steakhouse (2cr). I switched to YS after looking at both menus and talking at length with DH about our preferences. YS won by a small margin....I hope we aren't disappointed.

Day 3:
Breakfast - I'm planning to go to POFQ for breakfast so we can try the beignets....yummy! (1cr)
Lunch - Mama Melrose's FDP (1cr).
Dinner - nothing planned. Lunch is later so I'm thinking we won't be too hungry and will just grab some snacks.

Day 4:
MY BIRTHDAY
Breakfast at Tusker House (1cr). Haven't had breakfast here but lunch and dinner were good. I'm hoping it's like "Boma Lite" which is how we feel about it at lunch/dinner.

Snacks during the day...

Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table (2cr). Where else would I go for dinner on my birthday? And to be fair, we are also celebrating my DD's birthday, too - she turns 8 on July 14th.

Day 5:
Breakfast - Season's (1cr) - what can I say? It's convenient when we want to get to Epcot early.
Lunch - right now I have Via Napoli (1cr)booked, but I'm not sure if we will keep it or opt for a QS lunch.
Dinner - 'Ohana (1cr). This is a must-do for us. I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews and hope that we catch it on a good night....

Day 6 - last day of having dining credits as we check out of POR and check in to WL today.
Breakfast - Whispering Canyon Cafe (1cr) - not sure what to expect of breakfast here. But we are making today a resort/pool day, so I thought it would nice to try it out.
No lunch planned.....
Dinner - Artist Point (2cr). I am very much looking forward to this meal. Lots of things I want to try like the smoky portobello soup and the filet! I think DH will be adventurous and try the buffalo....

So of course there WILL be snacks....Mickey Bars, pastries in France, caramel in Germany, egg rolls (I've never tried a Disney one and it's about time I do!), churros, funnel cake....OMG I feel the pounds coming on...

BUT we're only doing DX for 5 nights/6 days, then we have 6 days to walk it all off.

Although we do have some ressies for those days that will be OOP.
They include:
Sci Fi
Garden View Tea
Garden Grill
Crystal Palace for dinner - which was DS's request for his birthday.

We are also going to Legoland for one of the days and I will report on the food we have while there as well.

I'll also report on the club level lounge at the WL.
Any questions, please ask.

I have been trying to get the "Dine With an Imagineer" for DH and I to no avail. But I'll keep on trying! UPDATE! I GOT IT! Friday August 10th for DH and myself at Hollywood Brown Derby! Woo hoo!!!!!

Thanks for reading....I'll update as we get closer....

:thumbsup2

Here is the NEW line up!
Arrival day - lunch at food court at POR/dinner at Tony's Town Square
Day 2 - Yak N Yeti and Yachtsman's Steakhouse
Day 3 - Crystal Palace breakfast/Chefs de France dinner
Day 4 - 'Ohana breakfast/The Dining Room at Wolfgang Puck Cafe dinner
Day 5 - Tusker House breakfast/CRT Dinner (this is my birthday!)
Day 6 - QS for breakfast and lunch/'Ohana for dinner
Day 7 - We check out of POR and head to WL for 6 nights but on our way we will go to BOMA for breakfast and have our last dining plan dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

The QS locations on day 6 will most likely be Season's for breakfast and Boulangerie Patisserie and Tangierine Cafe for lunch. (I love Boulangerie, DH loves Tangierine).

The last 7 days of our trip is pretty open....but we have a few dining ressies.

I leave in a week! OMG! How did it get here so fast?!?!

I am in! I love that you are surprising your DH with CL! Looking forward to your upcoming reviews!

Woohoo! I'm in! Looks like a wonderful lineup you have there. I haven't had CP for breakfast in a few years either and I really miss it as well. I find myself dreaming about those French Toast Puffs.

POR and WL sounds like an amazing split stay! I haven't stayed at WL in years and would love to go back.

I can't wait to hear all about the Garden View Tea as well. I've always wanted to do that.

Looking forward to all your reviews! :goodvibes

From one South Jersey girl to another!!! I LOVED your recent review and the days we are NOT on DXDP has me seriously craving a sundae at Ghiardelli because of your awesome reviews!
Although....I won't be able to swing by that Amish market you mentioned...maybe when I go back to work in the Fall since work is closer to the Amish market. ;)

 Count me in too! Your plans looks great and I can't wait to read the reviews. Have a wonderful trip! :thumbsup2

Looks like a great dining line up. And best of all... what a lovely way to celebrate your birthday (and DD too) by dining in the castle!! That will be wonderful! princess: I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Yes, that puffed french toast is calling out to me as well....

Looking forward to your reviews - you're dining at some of my favorite places, such as Artist Point. :thumbsup2

I am so in!

My husband and I are taking an adults only trip in Sept/oct on the deluxe plan and I cannot wait. We have 20 restaurant reservations - and they might need to wheel us out of there ;)

Keep trying for Dine with an Imagineer. I tried for months! I wanted to give it to my 14 year old daughter for her middle school graduation gift - but it was booked. And booked and booked. And then one day - and I tried daily - it actually had a reservation. I am sure someone canceled - and we just got really lucky with my timing. But, I encourage you to keep at it, you never know! It was an AMAZING experience!

Looking forward to hearing about your trip and about CL at the WL!!

OH, and I almost forgot - Disboards has an app?! What is it called? I have searched in the app store, but I don't see anything. Thanks!

Kat,
The app is "E Ticket" I think. You can post to disboards using it....
Pretty cool!

I believe it was your latest review of AP that hooked me!

I try multiple times a day for Dine With An Imagineer...something could pop up! I will let you know if I have any pixie dust!!! :wizard:

So after going back and looking at updated menus of both FF and YS, I decided to switch to YS. The menu is slightly more appealing to us at YS and the kids menu is much more to the liking of my extremely picky DS.

I am still trying to get "Dine With an Imagineer" and I'd love the dinner slot for DH and myself...so we will see (that one is at FF).

I keep wanting to tweak our plans, but then I re-read and realize that we're pretty good...:thumbsup2

Only 38 days now....

So we have decided to fly in to Orlando a whole day early so that means one extra night on the DxDP and a few more ressies!

They are:
Tony's Town Square for dinner
'Ohana for breakfast

And I'm working on another - just can't decide...

YAY, more Disney magic!!!!!!!!

An extra day at WDW - that always calls for this... :cheer2:

Decisions, decisions, decisions on where to go for that last ADR!

Well we added our day at the beginning of the trip and that's the part where we are on the DXDP. So I added Tony's Town Square for dinner our first night since MK is open until 1am. I also added 'Ohana breakfast which is a favorite I don't get to indulge in too often.

I'm torn between Via Napoli (which I have booked for lunch) and cancelling that in lieu of some QS in WS (Tangierine Cafe and Boulangerie Patisserie...). Decisions, decisions...

Gotta love planning...
And I love that I can say in 28 days I will be there! :woohoo:

Ahhh... an early start so this is added on to the beginning... now you have 1 day less to wait!

Have you tried Via Napoli before? I like it but it is not someplace I must book. In fact, I would be just as happy doing the French bakery. Good luck with your decision. :)
