At this point, we have the Fantasmic package with Mama Melrose on Saturday, 9/24. I didn't plan on getting the "package" since it's the end of Sept, and since I'm not POSITIVE my kids will sit through it, etc. But when I called to make ADR's, the CM offered, saying that it's wonderful and it is included in the dining plan. So I figured, sure - why not! But... I hate paying ahead or holding things by credit card. What exactly is it that we're "holding" what if we go to eat and then change our minds about the show? Or... what if we decided to skip that entire park that day and not eat at MM? Will we have to pay?

Also - still not sure about staying out that late at night and exposing my DD2, and DD4 to the show that might really FREAK them out. However a friend of mine said we HAVE HAVE HAVE to see Fantasmic... so I feel like we should make an effort. My kids don't like fireworks, but we're bringing along earplugs...will that help?

I was told by a CM when I made my reservation for the Fantasmic Dinner Package, that if you don't cancel 48 hours in advance, your credit card will be charged $10 per person. Hope this helps you make up your mind.

If your kids really don't like fireworks, I'd reconsider. Not only is there fireworks, but large explosions of fire, and not to mention the GIGANTIC snake and dragon. Certainly could be very frightening. How far into your trip is the reservation? Could you try fireworks at MK and then decide? Would you be outside of the 48hr window?

I agree with Jacksmom99 - if your kids don't like fireworks, loud things or the dark, save Fantasmic for another trip. This show often frightens young children (or bores them). It's just not worth the wait (even with the dinner package).

Best wishes-

Can someone confirm...The Fantasmic package is now included in the dining plan?????????? :cool1:

I'll confirm that for you!! I called Disney Dining to check on my ressies, and to see what was available if I cancelled Ohana (I'm not!!) and she noted I had the FDP - - and I told her we'd pay "out of pocket" she said "no need, its now on the dining Plan!!" and she said my CC has not been charged, but is to "hold" the ressie, if I didnt cancel 48 hrs prior, then the charge!!

my DD is almost 5 and still doesn't really like fireworks. She does LOVE fantasmic though. We always sit way up top in the back. I could see it being scary for little ones though.

We did not use the pkg and ate at MM. We did see Fantasmic that evening and got there a bit early to see the show. For you, I would cancel your FDP pkg and eat at MM, if you choose. This way, you can play it by ear for Fantasmic. You can see how it goes, since your kids are quite young, they may be really tired and not in the mood for it to begin with. If they don't like Fireworks, it may not be good. However, without the pkg, you are totally keeping it flexible and you can decide that nite. I don't think the crowd level, for when you are going, would make it that difficult to just go into the stadium/arena, and get a good seat, on the spur of the moment. Even with the pkg, you are required to get there 1/2 hr early anyway, if you got there 1 hr early, you'd be fine, IMO. We went at the end of August and people were coming in an hour early and still plenty of great seats.

I agree with maxaroni. You will not need the package for late September. I would keep it flexible.

I wasn't on the dining plan and we did the same you're doing. Dined at Mama Melrose's and saw the Fantasmic afterward. We were there an hour before the show and my daughter was getting a little tired of sitting around.

You are obligated, with the guarantee, to go to dinner, then you get the tickets for the Fantasmic show after you eat.

IMO the Fantasmic was the best show at Disney. Yes, there are fireworks, but there is soooo much more!! The water sprays up in a wall that is about 20 feet from the stadium where we sat and the laser light show is directed on the wall. Then behind the wall is an island where Mickey actually comes out. The actual premise of the show is that Micky is fighting the bad guys and all the bad guys come out, but then so do the good guys.

I don't want to ruin it for you if you decide to go, but wanted to let you know there is SO MUCH MORE than fireworks!!! This is a complete show that was worth the wait! We all can't wait until we go again!
