Reallocations of points

I called Member Services twice and they said they cannot reallocate which points are used for a reservations (Banked points vs current use year points).

Previously, over the phone Member Serves has reallocated points types without changing the reservation (same reservation number, same dates).

Should I book the August dates and then email DVC to ask them to reallocate where banked points should be used?

I understand that sequence is when reservations are made, not the order stays occur.

So if you book a March reservation, then a January reservation, the banked points are initially assigned to the March reservation (booked first). Since Jan is earlier in the year and less likely to be canceled, the request is to have the banked points assigned to the earlier (January) stay.

Are the banked points sitting in your account? Or in reservation?

Points can only be reallocated if they have been freed up. .

They can’t switch them around as long as you are still using them.

I have current use year points sitting in my account not attached to any reservation.

Not sure how they did it previously, this is how I expected it to work:
Replace banked points in current reservation with current use year points (using points which are not attached to a reservation).
(Not sure if they had to add then remove a day or do some other edit to the existing reservation to reallocate/reassign which points were used on the existing reservation)
After the reallocation, the banked points are not attached to a reservation.
Make new reservation with the banked points. (or place current use year points in existing reservation with banked points)

That can’t not be done if both are from the same contract.

The system is set up to use banked points first and as long as they are in a reservation, MS can’t reallocate current UY points into what you have booked and free to the banked points to use now.

The only way it can work is if your current UY points are in a different contract, and there are enough to book the entire trip you have, but the same home resort if the reservation was booked with home resort priority.

Then you just check the contract with the current points and leave the contract with the banked points unchecked.

Aside from that, those banked points can’t be taken out and replaced.

I don’t know then but have never been able to take out banked/borrowed, and replace with current UY.

The other way around works easily…so not sure how a CM accomplished for you…unless there were still nights for the trip and they booked those for you using current UY which allowed them to cancel the nights using banked or borrowed points.

I recently had this same scenario. MS informed me which portion of my March split stay had the banked points. I had to cancel that resy, modify the January resy, then rebook the March resy. This only worked bc I was still in my home resort window for the March resy. Might be more difficult now but I’d do 1 day waitlist until the rest is complete.
Now I know I need to bank points prior to making the March reservations.

I had a split stay reservation. First was 3 nights, second was 4 nights. They had different confirmation numbers. Both March and January reservations were in a 3/4 split week each. It makes it easier to modify if they are shorter in duration.
I called because I couldn’t remember which resy had the banked points.
ETA: after I canceled the March resy I had to call to reallocate the banked points into January. If the dates you have booked are sold out, you can’t do it on your own. You can only reallocate on your own if the dates/room are still available.
