Reallocation of pts on existing res after resale addon?

I have a trip booked for Nov using my current points and some borrowed. We're hoping to addon at a different resort through resale, same UY. If my addon has banked points, can my points be adjusted for the Nov trip to use the banked and borrowed pts from both contracts? That ways I can bank my current pts.

If so, any idea how far in advanced this needs to be done? And would it be automatically done when the points from my addon is loaded? or I'd need to call MS?
Thanks!

You will need to call MS. And if that reservation was made at your home resort, during the 11 month priority window, they can not reallocate unless there is still availability for that room type at 7 months.

Maybe a clarification/different experience?

I made a BCV reservation at 7 months with BLT points. A couple months later we purchased a BCV resale. So I called MS after we had the BCV points and asked about reallocating the BCV stay to use the BCV points instead of the BLT points (there was no BCV room available at the time) - MS did the reallocation with no questions asked.

This is what I'm hoping for. But just to be safe, I won't focus too much on contracts with banked points.

Thanks a lot to both of you!

Exactly, because your initial reservation was made at 7 months. If you had initially made a BCV reservation at 11 months out using BCV points, you could not switch it to BLT points at 7 months...it would be a cancellation and rebooking. If a reservation uses home resort priority, you can not reallocate the reservation to use non-home resort points at 7 months.

I think I understand what you mean now.

So going forward, if I don't have enough current points at one resort for an entire trip and don't want to risk a split stay, I'm better off borrowing to book at 11 months. Then bank points in the 2nd contract to use for next year's trip.

As Chuck stated, the key question is when you made the reservation. If it was made in the home resort booking window (more than 7 months out) then you cannot substitute non-home points unless the dates you need are currently available to be booked at the time you ask MS to do the substitution. (The reason being, you are essentially cancelling the original reservation made in the home resort window with home resort points and booking a new one in the non-home window using non-home points.) If the original reservation was made at 7 months out or less then they should be willing to substitute the points even if the dates are not currently available.

MS will not automatically reallocate the points from your new add-on contract to any existing reservation. They have no idea what plans you may have for those new points so it would not be appropriate for them to do so. You will need to call and the sooner the better if you booked the reservation in the home resort booking window and now want to try to rebook part of it using non-home points.

Yes, that's what a lot of us who own small contracts at more than one resort do. I don't have enough AKV or VWL points to go every year so I alternate. One year I book AKV with banked and current AKV points 11 months out and bank my VWL points. The next year we book VWL with banked and current VWL points 11 months out and bank the AKV points.

As Chuck touched on, if any of the days are availble independently, you can change those days no matter what. You'll just need to make a new reservation, cancel the current corresponding days and link the reservations.
