I was wondering if you could give me your opinion as to when the reality that you are going to WDW sets in for you? Is it when you make the reservation or when you buy the park passes? The reason I'm asking is that we are planning our 2nd vacation in December. I am gonna pay for this vacation with Ebay money & other extra money so it will be little by little. I have enough right now for 1 of our Park passes or to reserve our room. Which do you think will make it seem more real?

Reality?What's that?;)

No, really, probably when you have the whole trip paid for---
airline booked and paid for, hotel(s) booked and paid for, tickets bought, and an empty credit card...or CASH!

I pay for everything up front and as soon as possible.
That way, I'm not in debt, and can plan for our next trip!

Have fun and stick around here!:sunny:

For me it the reality does not really set in until I start packing. Although I sure feel the bitewhen I pay for those tickets ahead of time!

It never really sinks in for me until I have to start packing. Each little part ( getting the reservations, buying tickets, etc.) is a moment of excitement, but the real "we're actually going" excitement doesn't hit till I pack. That'll be this Thursday or Friday, for me. ;)

Definitely when I make the flight reservations. I hate to fly so thats a big step for me. Anxiety and euphoria all from one phone call!

Since I travel often for work, the reality does not set in until we are checking in at the airport. We usually fly a different airline than my company uses for business travel and it is unusal having DH and DD with me at the airport.

The reality sets in for me when I can start making PSs. I have one more day before I can start!!

Because of DH's job, I can make all the reservations I want, but I don't know we're really going until we get in the car. It makes for some very interesting vacation planning! Hopefully we will leave in 134 days.

:D I would go with the hotel reservation. That's what makes it real to me.

It sets in for me when I get off the plane at MCO! The minute I step foot in the terminal, I'm grinning from ear to ear. :teeth:

I must confess that there are times when I'm at EPCOT (I think about EPCOT a lot!!) that I have to say to myself, you're really here, you're not just fantasizing about it.

Back to packing Ebay stuff that sold this weekend so I can do more than just dream about WDW. :D

Thanks! I think I will make my reservation first! & keep saving for the tickets! Another question. We are planning to stay at POR and would like the mansion, if we request the mansions, how likely are we to get them? Thanks! Sandy

For me, it comes in stages.

There is some excitement about booking the vacation. We book the room with length of stay passes and drive instead of fly.

The next excitement comes when we start getting organized, which includes packing.

Getting all loaded up and pointing the van South is when the reality kicks into gear.

From then on it just gets better and better. Crossing into Florida on I-95, turning SW onto Rt. 4, seeing the first signs for WDW...

Turning off of Rt. 4 is always such a warm feeling. Pulling into our resort and checking in is where the anxiety starts building. Finally, getting off the bus/monorail and walking into Epcot is where my wife claims she can actually see the big change in me.

Reality comes in stages for me too. I get super excited with each step of planning the trip (booking the room, making PS's, reading guidebook after guidebook, etc.), then I get really pumped the night before we leave. I also love crossing under those Walt Disney World signs--gotta love that! For me though the entire reality that I'm in WDW doesn't completely set in until I've been there for a few days. It takes a while for me to just take it all in. :earsgirl:

I think my reality hits in stages. The first stage being when I book the room. Then, when I get the confirmation in the mail. Then, of course, there's the waiting and waiting. I think the real reality sets in about 3 days prior when we're faxing our room request, packing our suitcases and checking the Orlando weather forecast.

Now, we drive. So there is one more stage. The drive down.
