Hello all,

We have made several round trip drives to Disney and have used Gas Buddy to estimate the cost of gas, but I THINK it was a bit low. Of course once you get on the road, imo, the entire budget goes out the door!

This time we are only driving home from Disney and I am trying to find a realistic amount I can expect to spend. I anticipate having a 2014 Town & Country minivan (unless someone can pipe in on what is on the Emerald Aisle at National)

I don't think there is a problem with gas buddy. Drive too fast (keep up with traffic) and you won't get the MPG assumed by gas buddy. Stop at a convenient gas station instead of the one suggested by gas buddy and you'll pay a liile more
Gas buddy might show a cash price.

You've used gas buddy. Just increase the number by the same % the program under estimated your expenses past trips

I agree with the PP. Gas buddy provides a realistic estimate but can't account for every variable of vehicle performance, driving habits, traffic flow or which gas station you use.

OK, I drive a big Dodge 4x4 pickup and have done the FL to MA trip more times than I care to count.. Gas mileage sucks in this truck. 18 MPG is doing great. So if you use my numbers, you will be fine.

Fill up at the Hess station, my first gas stop on the road is usually around Pooler, GA. Next stop around Roanoke Rapids, NC and then on the NJ Turnpike somewhere in the vicinity of the Garden State Parkway. My last stop is somewhere in RI, usually the West Greenwich area.

I normally put in between 18 to 20 gal at a fillup. I guestimate around $175 for gas and your tolls will depend on if you go thru NYC on the GW Bridge or go around using the Tappan Zee Bridge.

You have a $4.00 toll in MD either at the Ft. McHenry Tunnel or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, $8.00 for the JFK highway in MD, $4.00 Delaware Turnpike, $7.25 NJ turnpike to GSP (for the Tappan Zee) , GSP 2@$1.50 each and $5.00 Tappan Zee Bridge or $12.55 NJ Turnpike to 16W (GW Bridge), $14.00 GW Bridge and $1.75 on the NE extension of the NY State Through way.

By my calculations, if you take the Tappan Zee around the city (My recommendation for cost and ease of drive) $31.25 in tolls and if you go thru NYC on the GW Bridge it will cost you $43.30 in tolls.

Thank you!. This is what I was looking for!

Sorry quoted above. Check MD tolls on July 1st. They will be lower. New governor decided to reduce previous governor's increases!

That's great, those tolls were ridiculous. Highways maintained with Federal money should be free. If the state of MD says they maintain that road exclusively, without federal highway money, that's different. But I'll bet it's not so.
