Meredith’s 6th Birthday Bash! Also Known as “Real Princesses Stay at The Waldorf”

About the cast: Me (Marcy), DH (Chris), Dexter (2), and Miss Meredith (5, turning 6 on trip).

I'm normally the one taking photos, so my identity is usually secret! But this photo from The Wonder will help... ;)

Dexter’s 2nd birthday was celebrated aboard the Disney Wonder in February of this year, so we decided Meredith needed a Disney birthday too. (Well, I decided. Ha!) My best friend, his wife, and son were also coming to Disney at that same time, so we were super excited.

We’re DVC Owners, so we normally choose a DVC Resort to stay in. This time around, however, we rented out our points and used the cash to stay in an off-site location fit for a princess…The Waldorf Astoria! We reserved a suite with a Disney View, as you can see the fireworks from the location. A day after making the reservation, we rcvd an email offering the chance to upgrade our suite for a nominal fee per night of $50 compared to the $500 more per night. We selected we’d be open to that upgrade (Who wouldn’t?!!!) Will we get it? We won’t know until check-in…November 16th!

...more to follow!...

For me, one of the most fun parts of visiting Disney are …the CUSTOMS. Then after Customs are Dining Reservations, which leads to…more CUSTOMS.

I’ve played with our dining reservations a number of times. Will they change? Will they stay?

As of 31 July:
November 16: Arrival Date! In-Room Dining, most likely
November 17: Ohana Dinner
November 18: The Wave (hoping to snag Be Our Guest!)
November 19: Tony’s Lunch The Yachtsman Dinner
November 20: Chefs de France lunch Akershush Dinner

We have a pontoon boat reserved for WISHES! on Meredith's Birthday, the 18th. We will be leaving from The Contemporary. I plan on ordering a special cake for the boat--but trying to decide what to do. One of our guests has gluten free/egg free requirements. Do I get everyone mini cakes? Mini cakes for the kids and assorted tasty treats for the adults? Decisions, decisions...

Oh, no readers? No love for my first report. Guess I shouldn't do a report for either of the dcl cruises we did either. :rotfl2:

Can anyone tell me if flickr doesn't let you do your pictures here? I uploaded to flickr but still no pictures. :/

Maybe a regular birthday cake and then egg/gluten free cupcakes? I know Babycakes has delicious gluten/egg free treats but not sure if you'd be able to pick them up or have them delivered.

I think a ton of people read without commenting, so don't be sad! :)

I kept looking for that coveted Breakfast with Cinderella in her castle spot bt have been coming up short. So..I shortened the number of guests in our party from 7...to 4...to 2...:rotfl2: AND WE GOT A SPOT! aaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha! It's on Meredith's birthday, so some mommy/Meredith time in the castle sounds perfect.

--Real update to follow. Any hints on photos, please?

:wave2: Are you using the tag or using the "insert image" button at the top of the reply box?

Look forward to reading more details!

Meredith's outfit for Ohana has arrived. I love it! Dexter will have a set coming shortly, too. :)

We've never eaten at Ohana before, so this will be a new adventure for us!

We're not on a dining plan this trip, since we are staying off-site. Ohana is a great choice since we don't need park tickets to visit the Polynesian! We've eaten at the Poly before, but it was at Kona. Unfortunately, we were _not_ impressed. I had the New York Strip Steak with terriyaki and it was a terrible cut of meat. The wings were tasty, however, for our app. The tables were very close together and it was not comfortable. Hubster was not excited about going back to the Poly for dinner, but I convinced him it would be a different experience--the reviews for Ohana have always been fabulous!

We can only order our cake from The Contemporary, so we will be checking out the CAKE thread here on the 'Dis. I'd love to order some glass slippers for the boat but I despise white chocolate. :guilty:
