My dd (23) just found out that she will be going to the Orlando area on business in 2 weeks, and she and her co-worker (25) thought they would stay Friday night/Saturday and try to do one day at Epcot and possibly MGM. And, since both are single, they're also interested in the social scene for Friday night.

Since we have not been there at all since the changes at DTD, and besides we always went as a family, and never checked out the nightlife, what would be your suggestions?

Also, any suggestions on where they should stay?

My thought was the Swan or Dolphin -- we stayed at one of them once (can't remember which one) and it was incredibly convenient to Epcot, and really a nice hotel. Plus I saw on one of the threads that they have a karaoke bar -- is that popular with young singles?

Or would they be better off staying off property and be closer to the social scene -- and where is the social scene?

Since their time is so limited, I think they're willing to pay a little bit more for a hotel to be close to the action. Their airfare isn't a problem, since their company is paying that.

Another question -- you can tell it's been a while -- do they still have some kind of FOTL pass or express pass if you stay at a Disney hotel.

One last question -- if they were interested in City Walk, shiould they just forget about Epcot and stay near Universal, and do one of those parks there instead, and do they still have any kind of express pass?

Any suggestions/advice will be appreciated.

Are they getting in Friday night and leaving Saturday? That wont be enough time for both parks. DHS shouldnt take all day but Epcot would. How about staying at an All Star resort since they wont be in it long? If they are looking for a dancing scene then Universal City Walk would be the best. DTD doesn't have that. Universal has FOTL pass if you stay at their hotels. Disney only has some rides that use FastPass which is first come first serve.

There is also Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk (near Swan & Dolphin - Epcot) I think. We've never visited either but that might be a fun place for both of them. I hope someone can share more about either place. Happy Planning to All of You!!!!! :)

Fastpass is available to all guests with a 2hr window between each pass. Or until the first pass time window comes up.
Ex: Get a fast pass at 9:30am for Soarin with a window of 12:30 to 1:30, at 11:30 they can get another fastpass. Say they get it for Test Track at 11:30 with a window of 1pm to 2pm. At 1pm they can get another fastpass.

If you're already close to the next big attraction, it's just easier to stick around and grab the fastpass for it rather than backtracking after you've gone on the first ride.

For a one day ticket, I would not bother with the added cost to add park hopper. There's plenty to do at Epcot alone. At the end of their night, they could head over to Boardwalk, where there is a slight nightlife there, a couple of bars/dance clubs. Then walk onto the Swan/Dolphin to catch their sleep. I know a lot of people like the dueling piano guys. Which is at one of them at the Boardwalk. Just remember there is like a 10$ covercharge. And Disney drinks are high priced, about 8-12$ for a frozen mix drink.

Plus International Gateway is much easier to enter than coming in from the front.
