I think Bravo should be there for the auction if Teresa is there for it. Sometimes around here people hire professional auction services and they are not present for it. Since Bravo has shown the financial difficulties of OC Gina and Tamra and Gretchen (her garage sale was funny), they should show the realities of Teresa as well.
I don't watch the OC one. I actually just started watching these shows (and I'm not proud of it....lol!). I watched last season of NY in a day when I was home doing something....it was a marathon. And so I watched this year of the NY show. My sister talked me into watching the NJ show, and now I'm hooked in a sick way....it's like a car accident, I can't look the other way. I'm fascinated by the spending and how materialistic these women are. NJ even moreso than NY. I'm a bit of personal finance nut (I hardly ever post here...always on the budget board), and so I find these women fascinating.
My husband is a little horrified that I'm watching this show....lol! I told him it's like a sociology experiment.....watching these women.
I find them all interesting on some level. I really like Caroline. I'm married to an Italian man and I appreciate her family values.
I saw a
YouTube clip of Teresa from last season....where she spent 120K in *cash* on furniture. Who does that? People who aren't reporting their income...that's who.
I watched a 5 minute clip where she's showing off her nearly completed home, the furniture shopping spree, and some commentary from her on buying a "used house" and that it "skeeves her out", and that she found it "gross" to buy someones home.
Keep in mind, this girl is from Patterson NJ. Not picking on Patterson, but this girl did not grow up with money. I think that so much of her identity is now wrapped up with shopping and spending money that she can't grasp what's happening to her family. Let's face it, she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Frankly, I'm not so sure that Joe gets it either.
Anyway, I was actually pleased to see that the Bankruptcy Trustee is moving to prevent their Bankruptcy from being discharged. Clearly, they are lying and being incredibly deceitful. I mean, it's laughable to me that they thought that they could hide income from her book. It's actually a NY Times best seller. I've been watching every episode shaking my head, knowing that it was filmed during and after they very quietly filed BK in October of 2009.
Nobody likes to see good and honest people go down in flames. But these people truly represent so much of what is wrong with our consumer driven society. I really do think Teresa is family-minded and loves her husband and children. I think that she would garner an amazing amount of praise if she was open and honest about their financial downfall. Nobody believes her anyway when she acts like everything is okay. Honesty is always the best policy...unless you're on a reality show I suppose.
The article in People magazine was a real eye opener. Teresa's hubby's business partners, contractors and property managers were interviews and they were all left high and dry. He would take the income from rental properties (most low income) and keep the money to build his mansion and support his wife's shopping habits. Meanwhile many families are also filing BK because they were not paid as they should have for their work. I wonder how they feel when Teresa says it's "no big deal". I hope she is grilled during the reunion show.
