OK, we have received all the info packets and videos and have had e-mail conversations with a sales rep. We will be down there in late August and want to look into taking the tour. Can someone tell me about how long is the tour/presentation, can we request to be taken to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, can we schedule our own day & time, how high pressure is it?

We have been 10 years in a row now and think it may be time to take the plunge.

Thanks

Actually the tour will take as long as you want it to. The best bet is to go to the animal kingdom lodge on your own. We have often gone to breakfast there and then roamed down the halls and go out on the fire escapes or viewing platform at the end of the halls to look for animals. If you need a referral let me know. We have been members since 1992 and love the DVC. Enjoy your time and your tour. the models are all open at saratoga springs resort, atleast the last we were there in October last year. It is a great investment in your future vacations.

I believe that the tour is about 2 hours long. THey will take you through the models set up at the sales center, which is located at SSR.

I think they have both a BLT and AKV model set up. I don't believe they will take you directly to the resorts.

Just be sure you have a member's name as your referral as typically incentives are better if you have one. There is a thread on the boards where you can find one if you need it (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32477462#post32477462)

Have a great trip! We are leaving in 2 days for our first stay as DVC members. We are trying out BWV, BLT, and VWL this trip (I know...a lot in a week, but its me and the kids (20,16,13) and its a good time to see other DVC resorts without DH in tow!!!:lmao:)

they will adapt the time to your schedule.

, can we request to be taken to the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas,

if you are staying there, you can request to be picked up and dropped back off there.

if you want to see an example of the inside of a villa at AKV, you'd be better off looking through the models at SSR, which is where they will take you on the tour.

if you are considering AKV, by all means make a reservation at one of the restaurants like jiko...and wander out back of the lobby at jambo house to see the animals to get a feel for the resort.

can we schedule our own day & time,

pretty much, yes. i think the official tours stop at 5pm usually.

how high pressure is it?

historically, it's been very low pressure.

At SSR they have models of BLT and AKL (Kidani). The tour was worth it.

The tour was well worth it. We stayed for 2 1/2 hours, and we didn't even stay for the free sundaes.

It has been 4 years since I toured.. I did it at SSR. It was very pleasant, not like OTHER ones I have had the displeasure of suffering through-(long story, hubby signed us up to one elsewhere and the pressure, etc:scared1:) DVC was very well done and NO PRESSURE felt whatsoever. I have been riding my "DVC roller coaster" ever since:confused3 It is pathetic- I go every year and I think I am finally going to make the plunge and go for it. I just want all "my ducks in a row" first.

My philosophy in life has been, for quite a while, if one keeps waiting for their ducks to line up, something usually happens to at least one of the ducks and at least one duck is always in peril.

You only live once. You don't get to try it again. ;)

No pressure, very informative, as long or short as you'd like, and after they will drive you where you'd like to go. :goodvibes

Because our tour was on the last day we were there, they offered us $15.00 gift cards. Glad we had our kids with us, because that meant an additional $30.00!

Can I ask what kind of fastpasses they were? Were they the single paper ones given at the parks when rides are down etc, or were they a plastic card type?

When we were there last month, DH finally decided to talk to a guy at the DVC kiosk, and he said he needed at least an hour of our time... We were on our way home and didnt' have the hour to spare. So I'd allow at least that.
