McDonald's is killing the California desert tortoise ... when fast food surfaced with its outdoor garbage cans crows left the Los Angeles area and traveled east following the logo into unnatural habitat

Crows and Ravens...very thick collegiate softcover 2005.. Yale publishing..300 pages of text and art...we don't have any in Yuma, Crow or Raven that is...but I had already known about the bird preying on soft shell babies

But there is a rehabilitation center in Victorville for crows and Ravens to not prey on newborn tortoise

I'm on the waiting list for "Theo of Golden". It better be good-the library said there's a several months' wait.
And I'm thinking of reading "The Calamity Club" next. It's a pretty long book, but so many people here have recommended it, it must be good.

Well... thank goodness all the winter visitors have left ...my wait may not be several months and it will be summer if I have to wait that long and no time to read if longer

Well... when it's a blizzard outside.. easy to read large print


The note....alafair burke... the word murder was not on the back cover...3 of them...oh well.. first novel with all kinds of movie quotes and soundtrack references Carly Simon and James Taylor....now that is not nice....Burke challenging us

Action revolves around a spa/gym and a private investigator who didn't fit...yes.. several murders... but two opposite characters so made it fun to read... again large print that seem to not match the other 100s available... good airplane Read because no concern as a reader about the ending

30/70 “Under His Wings” by Emily Compagno. This book was recommended to me by a friend. This book made me aware of so many people who have sacrificed so much for my freedom.

32/30 just finished...a book to read in segments and great reading for holidays honoring veterans...a different style of writing so not a normal history book...had already purchased book as being a resale non fiction history book

15/35 How To Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley

A really fun read about a struggling community center and the eclectic mix of senior citizens who try and save it from demolition. The characters were surprising and funny. I plan to look for other books by this author.

33/30.. another blizzard day in Yuma...I thought the 3 large print books would make it to Tuesday... small print tomorrow

The paper palace... Miranda heller great book for waiting at hospital.. airport runway...train sitting for 4 hours... when I read the back cover I thought it would be a summer cabin Cape cod saga... nope... it's a puzzle book about family failure... not sure how it would be read... not a ocean or vacation book nor pleasure in the manner it is written... I think it came linear..but workshops and editors wanted something else

Coming of age story about a girl and her family struggling to deal with a world whose days keep growing longer because of a change in the earth’s rotation. While it changes the environment, gravity, and human behavior it also affects their family relationships. Interesting premise, I liked it.

Joyce is really coming into her own in this book. She is a fun character. Some of the things in this book are rather thought provoking. It was not my favorite of the four books that I have read. But I still enjoyed it.

34/30. Are you a fan of cruise ships... resort Islands ... have a view about global warming.... COVID history...or just history in general??? Than this a book to read in 6-10 minutes tidbits...if you can put it down....

The last resort, stodola..was shelved in fiction section of bookstore so grabbed it by mistake because the cover was so pretty and glad I did... I am learning a great deal about world Island life

I really enjoyed this book! It ended on sort of a cliffhanger, but it is the first book of a series with the next entry due next year.

Good luck with your goal! I’m aiming for around 25 books this year, which feels realistic for me. These threads are always dangerous for my reading list though—it grows way faster than I can read.
