Does anyone have websites or ideas of what I can do to help my 4th grade cousin with reading comperhension? Im looking for fun stuff and learning stuff

My second grade daughter really enjoys some of the sites listed here. There are games and workbook style practices too.

Work on reading strategies with her through modeling:

Predict/ Ask questions about the text...I wonder why...I wonder if

Make connections - this reminds me of a movie where... the Leo Lioni book when...

Clarify - I can't remember who...(flip back pages to look for the answer)

Here is one of the best books out there in the teaching community called, "Strategies That Work."

Workbook types of activities only assess comprehension, but don't teach it. Invest in the book and use the strategies if you have time to spend helping your cousin.

What interests your cousin? Give books in that subject at a higher level which the cousin will want to read.
