I saw the link on SR for a 6 credit payout on shoppingjobs, for a 95 cent trial membership. Reading through the site, it sounded great!

I wasn't ready to do it, so I was reading, got to the terms of service. Keeping in mind the recent messages that companies are cracking down on quick cancels, I've been wanting now to do things that I won't feel the need to immediately cancel, and this *sounded* good.

Then I got to this. "Memberships Renew automatically at $14.95 after three days, every 1 month(s) Until Cancelled. You will not be billed for a full membership if you cancel before your trial membership expires"

3 days! That's not enough time to make sure the company is legit, that it will link you to jobs that actually do pay...a month, sure, you could definitely tell if it works in a month. Or even a week gives you some time. Not enough time to be paid by a job you get through their listings, but time to look around. But 3 days!

It's like they are ASKING for quick-cancels...

6 credits sounds nice. But it also seems like it could be quickly taken away with a cancellation that fast... :(

Yeah I have thought the same thing about lots of them. Like the different weight loss ones or sleeping pills...you don't even get the pills fast enough and have time to try them out...so like you said they are asking for QUICK cancels. I am wondering what is going to happen with them revoking ones. That sure will hurt a lot of us on SR!!

I will tell you that I did this a while back, and maybe it's wrong, but I printed all the pages of the jobs available. Interestingly enough, I do one Secret Shopper job every 90 days or so and that company wasn't on the list. I used to shop for one other company, but they expected you to spend anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours on the shop, then do a VERY detailed report, sometimes taking another hour and then pay you twelve dollars and NOT reimburse you for what you were required to buy. I understand the need for secret shoppers, but for that kind of money, they are not going to get me to help out. The one place I do work for does restaurants, they reimburse the cost of the meal up to a set amount and pay ten dollars on top of that Since I have to eat.............................

I do alot of mystery shopping with various companies and Shoppingjobs is fairly well known.

I don't think that I would necessarily call them a scam - they are just more of a middleman. They take a whole bunch of information that is available for free in other places and sell it to you. They don't have the ability to award or assign actual jobs, they are just a clearinghouse of places that do.

Most of the people I know wouldn't recommend them, just because the info is so easy to find in other places. I have seen people who like to use them however, I guess for the convenience.

I did sign up for this, I plan to cancel tomorrow morning (2 days). I figure it was worth the risk of 95cents.

I wasn't really coming from the POV that it was a scam. But it doesn't give you much time to see if it's a helpful service, with that 3 day thing.

And with Tricia warning us about the quick cancels (right below the link to this site), I don't want to ruin it for everyone by doing it JUST to cancel. :confused3

I also become very protective of my credits, so it woudln't just be the 95 cents out of my bank account, but the credits put INTO my account that I wouldn't want taken back out! :rotfl: I go all Mama Bear over my SR credits...:upsidedow

If you want to hold on for a couple of days - I canceled today, which is two days after I signed up. I'll post if my $6 credit is reversed. There is no point in all of us losing 95cents.
