At WDW now. Practiced for five days before our DHS day. My husband and I both start from the ATAT page (MDE Home Screen). I would never trust the refresh method. I always lineup my join button from the home screen with where it will be on the second page. My phone page never “jumps”. It’s always positioned perfectly. We were successful every practice day and he got BG 9 on our DHS day. Yay!!! BUT that morning while we were trying for the real deal, my phone screen turned white and froze for about 5 seconds on the second page. It had never happened before. My heart sank and I was frantic until he yelled that he’d gotten it. If I’d have been trying by myself we wouldn’t have gotten to ride.

May I ask what kind of phone you had that froze on you? I'll soon start practicing (for a summer trip) and want to cover all my bases!

My screen jumps.

But I definitely saw the blue join button for a split second before the jump.

But I think I wasn't looking to hit the button, I thought I could just tap in the same spot and be good.

I'll keep practicing!!
So for those of us who have phones where the second page jumps/slides down a bit after a second, can you hit join before it slides down?

No you would have gotten to ride. The white screen and the delay were because your husband already gotten the BG. Your situation is very common when you are sharing a single MDE account. Only the first device in wins a BG you just need to go

If you happened to be using different but linked MDE accounts you would have seen a different behavior.

I’m on line now for millennium falcon with boarding group 48 for rise and an expected return time of about 35 min. What’s the grace period to get onto rise if I don’t make it out of millennium in time (I’m still in the outdoor section that loops outside before te-entering back inside the indoor que area). I don’t want to miss my birding opportunity

You'll have an hour to return, so you should be fine to stay in mfsr line, then head to RotR after.

We are going the first full week in June. We have 6 park days, but HS is normally a one day park for us, but Rise is a "must do." We have reservations at HS for a Tuesday as crowd calendars (which I know are struggling during these times) projects this being the least crowded day. Should we get reservations for a 2nd day just in case we don't get a boarding group on our one HS day? If we get a second reservation for HS and luck out getting a boarding group on day one how hard is it to get reservations to the other 3 parks last minute when staying on property?

If it were me I would get a second reservation for DHS since Rise is a must do. Better safe than sorry.

I agree. It's definitely a lot harder to add a second HS day than it is to add a second epcot or animal kingdom day. I'd set 2 MK and 2 HS days then update as necessary.

In general, it hasn't been difficult to change parks if not getting a BG at 7 AM.

I think that's what I did today and I got a group (well, not really b/c I don't have a park pass, but I got a practice one!)

Actually, I'm not positive what I did. 🤦‍♀️

I prepped at 12:58 by attemping to line up my Joins based on the location of the line that said something like virtual group not yet available (it was a different message than the orange triangle message that's usually there).

I hit At At Join right when my phone struck 1 and the blue join button wasn't in the next screen. I honestly can't remember if I refreshed or waited for it to "jump", but I saw the blue join appear and I hit it 2 times in a row really fast, got to the people page, had a milisecond brain blur looking for the next button, then hit that join and got the Is everyone in the park? warning.

I'll keep practicing and try to remember if I pulled to refresh it or just waited for the button...

I got a boarding group the other day. I had time.gov opened on my laptop and MDE open on my phone. Both my phone and laptop are off by a couple seconds. When time.gov said it was 6:59:59 I hit join now and got a boarding group.

I’m practicing from home to try to get it down, I did a speed test, had my iPad with world time and refreshed my Disney screen at 6:59:58 and clicked Join. I’m not going til April, so obviously don’t have a reservation for today. Does this screenshot mean I would have been good if I did have a reservation for the park today?

Ok, please help, what am I doing wrong in my practice session? I hit join at exactly 7 on the dot, then checked off the other 3 people going, then join again, and the boarding groups were already filled and it was still 7:00.

also, I don’t understand how you are supposed to align the join buttons, when the second one doesn’t appear until it’s time. thanks in advance

Edit: I just saw in a video that I’m supposed to remove anyone not on our trip from our MDE. So, that’s one thing I can improve.

I'm also having a hard time with my practice sessions. I am quick with hitting the first 2 join buttons, but then I have to select each member of my party? At that screen, only my name is highlighted. It takes time selecting my 2 traveling companions, and then finding the join button at the bottom of that screen. Is there a way of having my party pre-selected as a default?
