Amazing, thank you all so much! We’re seasoned DLR folks but this will be the first time at WDW so the navigation piece has me overwhelmed so I’m in full research mode. We made reservations for two days at HS so determined to get in ROTR!

We got BGs twice in January - RotR is quite an experience!

Hello, fellow ROTR planners! Here is my recent experience from (this past) Saturday: We arrived (via Skyliner from Riviera) @ HS around 9:20am & after a quick & painless temp screening, bag-check, & MagicBand tap, we immediately headed to MMRR & got in line. They started boarding for the ride @ 9:30. Of course, we boarded the ride (which is 4 mins & 30 secs long BTW) @ 9:56 so we were on the ride (toward the end during a particularly bumpy part lol) when the clock turned 10:00--but we had all been researching & practicing like crazy for days*** and managed to get BG 7! The family in the car behind us also got one, not sure what group. We all went bananas for the last 1-2 mins of the ride, I don't even remember the ending! FYI all 4 of us in my group (me, my hubby & our 2 kids) had 4 bars on our phones for the whole ride. Interestingly, while we were outside in the queue, the bars kept changing up & down from 2-3-4. So actually better for all of us inside the ride! Two of us used the Dis wifi & two of us used cell data, just to try both efforts evenly. My 14-yr old daughter was the one who got the BP using data. Got off the ride @ 10:02, went over to GE, our BG was called, & we basically walked on ROTR. Went on MFSR right afterward, wait for that was bout 30 mins. Couldn't believe we were on & off these 3 rides by 11am. ***If you are interested in our "practicing" & prep efforts, LMK & I am happy to share!

Failed my last 10a practice before we’re at the park tomorrow, again because I tapped the first join button a split second too early and the second join button didn’t show up.

You can, but if you want to ropedrop, the Uber won't be allowed into the drop off zone until 30 min before park opening. If you want to get there earlier, an Uber to Speedway and walk to HS is your safest bet.

Wow, this morning from home, when I clicked join, just got the spinning circle, then the screen flashed, went back to the spinning circle and it told me the distribution was complete already. didn't even get the chance to join or go to the family and friends page.

I got to the page to pick family but from there it told me the boarding groups were full. I had originally planned a trip for this week but we decided to move it back an extra week. Sounds like we made a good choice.

yeah, I've had times where it'd be full before I got all the way through, was just weird I wasn't even able to get to the F&F page today.

It's like playing the lottery. I was successful this morning. Luckily I've only missed it twice since I started practicing a month ago but it's definitely nerve wracking. I can only imagine how nervous I'll be when I'm actually in the park.

How do you practice if you aren't in the park?

The same exact thing happened to me. It was just spinning over and over. My husband usually practices too and he almost always beats me because he has a google pixel and he could set seconds on his clock. I'm glad there will be two of us trying when we are in the park in case one of our phones just spins like today.

How do you practice if you aren't in the park?

You can go through all the steps so you know what to do. You'll get an error at the end if you aren't in the park. But you'll at least be familiar with the process.

for I while, I hadn't had an unsuccessful practice. the last few times, it's hanging up on the friends and fam screen and I'm getting the red failed banner. hmmmm. been happening since the glitch last week.

How do you know if your practice round was successful? I just tried and it hung up on the select screen and I saw the red banner. I touched the x and hit join again and got to a screen asking if everyone was in the park. Also only I was selected. I thought everyone linked was automatically selected? The join button was clickable for around 2 minutes. Does that mean it too that long to fill up?

That is my question, does this mean I'm successful, if I get the red banner then X out of it, hit join again and it asks if everyone is in the park? Has anyone who is actually in the park had this happen but then got a BG?

Practicing for this definitely helps you get quick fingers and muscle memory. Didn't try this morning but haven't failed since starting and had a success this afternoon.

All I'm hoping for is no glitches on the day I'm there.

Here’s our experience from yesterday as a group of 8. We left the fort at 8:30 via personal car. In line for parking at 8:45 about 20 cars back. Right at 9 they started letting cars through and we got literally the front parking spot (non Prefered). Headed straight toward mmrr and got in line at 9:20. Just before we boarded mmrr it hit 10 and we had two phones trying with one group of four and two phones trying for the second group of four. All phones off WiFi, all iPhones. One group of 4 got BG 10 and the other group of 4 got BG 33. Had no issues with cell service in line for mmrr. We had a GET cast member combine our BG’s to 10 and all 8 rode together. Had we not each got BG’s I doubt the cm would’ve combined our groups. I’ve used this strategy before back when Disney reopened the first week or so and had no issues then either. The 10 am opening makes this a lot better IMO. We all hit the join button from the main screen on the MDE app. Good luck to everyone out there trying to hit the lottery.

Ok I apologize if this is a stupid question but.....my son doesn’t have a smart phone yet but he is pretty quick on the trigger. Could he use one of our old smart phones without a data plan (with the parks wi-fi) to try and get a boarding group along with us on our phones?

I would think so, assuming the phone is connected to the wi-fi and has the most recent version of the MDE app.
