30 is very solid. If the ride doesn’t have issues it shouldn’t be bad at all. We had 40 on Friday and we’re called at 11:50 am

Question - once I open the app, do I wait until exactly 8:00 to hit “find out more” or do I press that prior to 8:00 and wait on the “my status/join BG” page?

Okay, you guys convinced me that I needed to figure out a better way to add my 13/45 friends to a boarding group

I remembered my husband has a MDE he rarely uses and doesn’t care who is on his friend and family list... I went on and deleted everyone who isn’t going to be in our Rise group. All 13 of us will use that log in to try for a group. Hitting “select all” is so much faster ! I was able to practice quite a few times today before they ran out. I’m feeling much better about our chances. Thanks all!

Yeah, I had to add the people in my group so figure that delayed me - but I will take it!

Other than the “bragging rights” of getting a low number, and proving that you’ve got fast fingers, a fast phone, a small boarding group, or just plain dumb luck, I don’t see much advantage in getting a single digit number over one in the top 40 or so if you were planning on spending a few hours at DHS anyway.

It seems like the ride always has at least one delay or breakdown in the morning and sometimes it’s the folks with the lowest BGs who get evacuated. After the craziness of the “lottery”, I’d be just as happy to do that first ride that I lined up for an hour before opening, and take my time using my 3 FPs while keeping an eye on how the ROTR boarding is going.

Practicing from home, I always wait to hit “Find Out More” until 8:00. Usually they “Join Boarding Group” button on the next screen is available (but not the last two days so then I’ve had to hit “My Status”.

When practicing at home, I obviously get the screen that says “you’re not in park” but I don’t get the “back up boarding group “ gray pop up. Should I assume if I was in the park that I’d get a group? Or does it glitch out and fail after the “youre not in park screen” a lot? (If I was in the park of course) we have a one day Hollywood ticket on 3/18, so it’s a one shot deal for us.

I’ve always assumed, or at least hoped, that when you get the “Not so fast” screen when practicing, that if you were in the park that would be replaced by your assigned group. By that point all of the steps have been completed and the system has checked whether or not you are in the park.

I’m in total agreement. If I could pick my BG, I’d prefer one in the 20-40 range. Safely in a range when I should be able to ride but not first thing. I am hoping I can RD SDD or MFSR and I wouldn’t want to be in the first group to be called. If I’m getting the whole family up super early to get there, I’d like to take advantage of getting at least one ride in at RD. We need every bit of help we can get to ride something other than our three FPS and, hopefully, RotR. We have to fight spring break crowds so I have little hope that we can accomplish much else on standby.

Correct - You get a cute little picture of an astromech droid and your BG number.

Omg. Guys I’m really scared. We’re there Spring break, the week leading to Easter. DH may never let us go to Disney again if it is this awful. 😓

I’m going the same week!! I’m scared too.. And it’s my husband first trip with us! I hope he doesn’t hate it and refuse to come back! We may skip the BG madness so he doesn’t come away with a horrible impression... We’ll do our 3 FP rides a day with low expectations of anything else. Have ADRs planned and reservations for Droid Depot, Oga’s, Caring for Giants at AK and will also spend time with “lesser attractions” like Tom Sawyer’s Island, Country Bears, Carousel of Progress, Sorcerers of MK etc.
Also planning for pool time and a Typhoon Lagoon day.
On the plus side excited for bunnies in the parade and doing an egg hunt IN the UK pavilion of the World Showcase. How magical?!

just wondering, are Mondays characteristically slightly better for a chance in getting back up BGs (as today seems to be compared to the last few days). Is it because weekends are worse or is it just all over the place with no real logic/pattern?

Our upcoming trip is the week of March 22 so we know we will be dealing with massive crowds. I am grateful that we have a DVC reservation at the Boardwalk which makes it much easier to time arrivals at DHS and gives us a place to hang out in the middle of the day if needed while we wait for a BG to be called.

Well, this isn't very timely, but figure I'll post our experience anyway just in case it helps anyone . . .

Friday, Feb 7 - walked from Beach Club (took about 25 minutes). Arrived at 7:15ish for an 8:00 opening. Turnstiles opened within 5 minutes. We stayed right and were through in 5 minutes or so.

We lined up to rope drop Rock n Rollercoaster and were positioned in front of Once Upon a Time.

I was on Wifi and DH was on AT&T data. AT&T data did the trick - got group 9 with a 2 hour return window. On wifi, I received a red error message at the bottom of my screen. No idea what that was, because by that time DH already had the boarding pass. It really does pay to have multiple people trying. I even bribed my college aged DD to try from home lol.

Ride was terrific. Once in line, we waited about an hour or so.

Looks like it's delayed. Did SDD and my ToT FP+. Now eating breakfast at Woody's lunchbox as I wait for Rise to open. It looks like another super busy day. Woody's was mobbed

It has pretty much been all over the place. You can find a few Mondays to support your observation, but then plenty that don't. Having sorted and sliced this stuff in various ways, it is very difficult to find any sort of trend one way or the other. The two main variables - just where they have the Backup BG count pegged for conditions and park hours that day (supply), as well as the actual guest count in the park that morning (demand) are just too highly variable.
