Report from last Wednesday, 2/5. (What is it with Wednesday?!)

Left Pop at about 6:50. We got to HS and thru bag check by 7:15, and were tapped in (no fingerprints) to the park by 7:35. Decided to go toward TSL because I knew we could do MFSR in the evening with short wait and we had littles that wanted to do SDD.

Grabbed a few coffees, used the refresher, and stood around the corner from TSL waiting with our group of 10. We had four of us ready to go. One of us did wifi, one kept app open well before 8:00, the other two of us opened app at 10 seconds until 8:00. The one that did the latter using an iPhone got us BG7! Yay!

Only problem was they called our group at 8:13 and we had one hour to get there. So, when we got to the CM at the SDD line, we asked if we should bail or stay in line. Obviously we shoulda stayed in line, but who coulda known the RotR would go down. Turns out we coulda ridden SDD multiple times before RotR went back up.

About 1:00 pm we went back and got in line for RotR. We got through first part and there was a massive crowd. I had a gut feeling that this was not good, and sure enough we got escorted out the emergency exit. Super buzz kill. Very disappointed bunch of folks, we were. But we got anytime FPs. They were very clear that those were ONLY for the same day, however.

We returned about 4:30ish and used the FPs. Those are clearly very nice given the amount of waiting that you skip in the FP line. And this time everything worked. Definitely an awesome experience. Overwhelmingly cool, especially as a bonafide SW geek (first movie ever was ESB at age 5 in the theater).

2/5 was a rough day for the ride. We wasted loads of time coming back and forth to SWGE and missed doing SDD, but in the end got to ride it 1.5 times, so we felt fortunate to be able to see that first portion twice. I paid attention to different things and really enjoyed the amount of detail. Its obvious why the thing struggles this early in its existence.

App opened quickly and is functioning normally! Thank you update!!
Yes to this. Before the slow update it was 12 seconds to get to the main screen. After update it was 30 seconds. Now it is 5 seconds! Way better! Hopefully they will leave the app alone now till after March 2nd to let me get through my trip!

I’m very surprised that backup groups are running out faster than Xmas week. We’ve definitely seem to have gone backwards in last few weeks. This was the one situation I said wound be interesting - where you now likely have a significant number of people who were in the park an hour early and didn’t get a group at all. Other than 1-2 days, I don’t remember a time where those there at opening didn’t get a good chance backup group at the very worst. It may not seem like much, but I think there’s a very big difference between having 2-3 minutes and having less than a minute. Far less a difference than say, 3 minutes and 15 minutes.

waiting for the first report from someone holding a non-hopper there at opening who got shut out and if GS does anything.
that was almost my DD20 the other day. She is in the dcp and I purchased her a special FL resident ticket with 4 days to the parks over 6 months. she is using them for dhs since cast is blocked out. they got there early and followed all the steps and ended up with BG75. luckily they rode that day...fairly early too. It was earlier this week. I was worried she wasted that dhs entrance when she first told me she got a backup group.

the park was open longer during Christmas week

I wish they would do longer hours to have more people happy and less people frustrated, until crowds are less and the kinks worked out hopefully. Not sure when they will ever go to Fastpass, it would be a disaster right now

There have already been people reporting here, so I would have to assume more non DISers as well, who missed out on riding after being there at opening. It’s irrelevant IMO whether or not they got a group, since the end result is the same. A handful of days saw no back ups or very low back ups reached, in combination with regular BG running out in 1 minute.

As far as I know some didn’t bother to see a CM, some did approach and got FP for another day, and some were told better luck next time.

Our day so far:
6:45 - out of our Little Mermaid room
6:58 - loading into bus
7:01 - out to DHS
7:15 - through bagless scan
7:18 - through ticket tap stiles on the right
7:18-7:50- Tried to find 4 bars on TMobile. Moved around to about 5 different places. Settled by Frozen, where it stayed mostly 4 bars.
7:59:50 - launched app
8:00:05 - find out more
- Join Boarding Group was NOT red.
- Clicked My Status. Join Boarding Group was active.

BG 22! I did it, thanks to all!

Now waiting for them to start boarding. Got breakfast at Docking Bay.
I really think its critical NOT to hit find out more until after 8. Today my finger slipped a minute early and I was stuck in a toggling loop and couldn't get anything clickable until backup groups. It's hard to wait but do it! I have done this 3 times in the park and many times at home. If I wait, I can easily find something to click!

So BGs start with 8 - that means 51 total Regular Boarding Groups. That’s the lowest number of Regular Boarding Groups ever (by 10), for whatever that is worth.
there was a whole BG number (71) that did not board yesterday, they may have gotten fps for today and that may be why they cut the bg so early? Only the ancients know

1 minute today for all to be gone bg 59 and above are backup

That’s crazy, was just going to report that after I got through once, I completely shut the app down and started back up and it was showing backup groups at 35 seconds after 8.

And only 58 primary groups today!
So was the first BG 8? They're boarding 8-13 now. And if they stopped at 59 that's only 52 total groups. Very disappointing.

if the ride is malfunctioning more (and that seems to be the case from this past week of operations) more hours will only equate to more angry people.

Although 71 was the first Backup BG yesterday, not the last Regular BG. (I have to constantly check myself on this because my mind looks at the number in the app and thinks that’s a Regular BG number too, but it’s really the first Backup #.)

Somewhat related, I’ve sliced and diced the chart in various ways to see if there is any pattern to a “bad day” = adjusted BG #s the next day, and there really isn’t much of a discernible pattern one way or the other. You can find a couple of days which fit a “lower BG number the day after a bad day” pattern, but then a couple that don’t at all, so total mixed bag.

my mistake, I thought 71 was the last regular from yesterday.
There are so many variables that we simply don't know that it's a complete waste of time and effort to try and figure what's happening (imho) it's a shame that there's a downward trend happening, the other day when CM where extended to stay until 12:30am riding it non stop (my CM friend rode 12 times) it didn't break down once, so, for everyone, just know that they are trying to figure it out, they are not purposefully running the attraction as is just because they want to.

It's so easy to feel like they're making this mess on purpose, but you are so right. They would fix it all right and spiffy if they could!

I hope you don't mind, but I was a little bored this AM and wanted to see how it plots out (same data). It's just I wanted to see a graphical representation.
