Report from last Wednesday, 2/5. (What is it with Wednesday?!)
Left Pop at about 6:50. We got to HS and thru bag check by 7:15, and were tapped in (no fingerprints) to the park by 7:35. Decided to go toward TSL because I knew we could do MFSR in the evening with short wait and we had littles that wanted to do SDD.
Grabbed a few coffees, used the refresher, and stood around the corner from TSL waiting with our group of 10. We had four of us ready to go. One of us did wifi, one kept app open well before 8:00, the other two of us opened app at 10 seconds until 8:00. The one that did the latter using an iPhone got us BG7! Yay!
Only problem was they called our group at 8:13 and we had one hour to get there. So, when we got to the CM at the SDD line, we asked if we should bail or stay in line. Obviously we shoulda stayed in line, but who coulda known the RotR would go down. Turns out we coulda ridden SDD multiple times before RotR went back up.
About 1:00 pm we went back and got in line for RotR. We got through first part and there was a massive crowd. I had a gut feeling that this was not good, and sure enough we got escorted out the emergency exit. Super buzz kill. Very disappointed bunch of folks, we were. But we got anytime FPs. They were very clear that those were ONLY for the same day, however.
We returned about 4:30ish and used the FPs. Those are clearly very nice given the amount of waiting that you skip in the FP line. And this time everything worked. Definitely an awesome experience. Overwhelmingly cool, especially as a bonafide SW geek (first movie ever was ESB at age 5 in the theater).
2/5 was a rough day for the ride. We wasted loads of time coming back and forth to SWGE and missed doing SDD, but in the end got to ride it 1.5 times, so we felt fortunate to be able to see that first portion twice. I paid attention to different things and really enjoyed the amount of detail. Its obvious why the thing struggles this early in its existence.
