Hi--so, I typically practice for the 7 AM BG, from home in the Midwest. I go like others, to the AT AT photo. I do this a few minutes before 7. But I've been doing the refreshing on the second page, and do the whole join, join thing, and tend to do a successful practice nearly every time. It's go time next Friday, at the Boardwalk. Reading the newest posts here, are you guys saying that what I've been doing probably won't be successful? Add to this that when I do this at home in the morning, my phone time always reads 6:01, almost 6:02....Checking my phone time (it's an Android), it says my device is like 2 minutes or so ahead of the "real" time. Ughhhh, I need someone to lay out some kind of concrete plan, going into next week. I will pay you for your time, LOL. We only really have next Friday to do this too. Thanks for any help and for reading my book here ;)

It costs you valuable seconds. At home you are most likely using your home WiFi network or possibly 5G if your device supports it, neither of which you will have on property. Swiping down on that page and waiting for a button to light up is just plain slower than tapping in the same spot in rapid succession.

Just join join join from AT AT. It really is that simple. That is the best “plan” regardless of the crazy stand on your head and tap your phone with your nose at sunrise in the NE corner tips people stay giving lol. Even people with older phones (or reflexes) are successful this way.

To add to the great information @kylenne provided, if you have any way at all to look at time.gov it would be VERY beneficial in a case such as yours. A clock being off by even a few seconds can cost precious moments so 1-2 minutes could most definitely be the difference between success and disappointment unless you know the exact number of seconds it's off. BGs are filling in a matter of seconds so you will want to click your first Join at precisely the moment you can to offer you the best opportunity of scoring a BG.

What happens if your estimated arrival time is also the start of a ADR?

I've got 5 people in my group - how do we make this work? Split up?

Not sure what you mean. Split up in what way?
One person can get a BG for your entire group. Some have reported getting a BG for 20+ people all at the same time.

If your question has anything to do at all about the actual ride itself please delete your question and post on a spoiler thread as this thread does not discuss any information at all about the ride or queue.

No need to "Split up". First does everyone have ticket and a park reservation for DHS on the day you want to visit?

Next can everyone see each other in the friends and family list if you are not managing all 5 guests in your group from within just your MDE account?

Generally the more guests trying the better your odds, don't worry one of you will actually get through and get a BG for the entire group.

You can have multiple guests sharing the same MDE account but again only one smartphone will get the BG for everyone that has a ticket and a Disney Park Pass for that day.

Also you want to make sure you have updated to the latest versions of the app for Android or iOS before you leave for your trip. You will want to try cellular service only and have Wi-Fi turned off. Just make sure that you are in a location with a good Cellular signal (2-4 bars). You may need to step outside about 5 minutes before 7 AM just to make sure. Also make sure the you open MDE about 5 minutes early and make sure that you "sign in" at least 5 minutes before 7 AM or 1 PM.

If you get a low numbered BG 1-24 get moving as they start boarding the attraction before 9 AM!

Does the join button stay in the same spot for all 3 screens? Literally allowing someone to just tap their finger three times without scrolling around looking for the next join button?

No, it's at the bottom on the third screen. Technically, you can line up the join button below the ATAT pic on the main screen with where the button should be on the second page. I can only do that with my IPhone, my Android is always trying to jump around.

There’s no 5G???? Does that mean all my practice at home is inaccurate? All the times I’ve been successful may not have worked in reality? :(

Your practice is fine in so far as you know the steps. BUT, the only time it counts is the day of where variables like the network itself come in to play. There's never a guarantee.

And that's why it's important to run a speed test app about 5-10 minutes before 7 to know whether wifi or cellular data is going to be faster.

Can do it before, but in my experience, cell data drastically reduced from 6 to 7am.

I have a google pixel 2xl, how does one do the speed test?

FWIW, the three days I was there last week they did not start calling groups until official park open at 9am. Yesterday when I had BG 3 they called 1-7 at exactly 9, when I was in the queue for MMRR after having hit RNRC and ToT. Luckily I had more than enough time to get over to Rise.

5G towers have been spotted at the resorts but none of them are operational yet. If you use cell data it will be LTE at best.

I used Disney WiFi from my room at the YC all three times last week and had no problems getting groups without bothering to speed test because the WiFi had been reasonably fast the whole time I was there—resort WiFi in my experience is much faster and more reliable than in park WiFi. But if you want to be safe then run a speed test just to be sure.

I'm hoping they'll all be active in November next year when we go. 🤞🤞🤞
