I will say this we should consider not practicing tomorrow just in case. Maybe @yulilin3 could be the one who tries and we can see what happens.

I agree. One person should practice tomorrow to check what’s going on and report back. If it’s working as expected (and if they sent a memo, they are certainly going to try to have it fixed by tomorrow) then we can go back to situation normal.
 
my app is still weird. it dosent say back ups have been given out for the day... its just says I cant join at the moment... I can see the land is open and boarding groups are being called but not the usually screen when all BG have been given out

Are you one of the ones who actually HAD a BG this morning from home and then dropped it? If so, maybe that's why your app is weird. Have you tried restarting your phone?
 
I am curious how the software “calls” boarding groups. My assumption is that as people in a boarding group tap in, it determines how many are left in that boarding group and once that number gets below a certain threshold it automatically calls the next group. So today, with lots of groups half empty it will trigger more groups, but with still needing to give people a two hour window, we’re gonna see it calling BG 10-55 at once 😂
 

While this is unprovable, I doubt 1/2 the BGs are empty today. Us and other similar sites/groups are all consumed with testing here, but we're probably a very small number relatively speaking. While of course reports here were rampant, probably a lot more people in the park that did in fact get a BG than testers at home who accidentally got one. Just a guess, of course.
 
I'm sure Disney IT has all hands on deck right now to determine what went wrong and will be testing it thoroughly to ensure it doesn't happen again. I will be shocked if we see this happen again tomorrow.

I didn't even open the app until after seeing all this discussion on here, but I'm getting the same screen. It doesn't say everything is gone for the day, it just has the "Join Boarding Group" greyed out and if I click "My Status", it says "You can't join any new boarding groups at the moment. Please check the Status and Access screen for the latest information about entry into the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge experience." Nothing about all the passes being gone, which I thought was the usual message at this point.

We are a drop in the bucket as far as the number of people practicing at home. What needs to be done is they fix it before tomorrow. I'll be amazed if they don't. Otherwise, the same thing is going to happen, regardless of what people who read here do.
 
I am not sure how quickly they go through groups, but I am home and watching my app and it seems to be steadily growing by one every few minutes or so and sometimes even quicker than that.
Is that normal?
Nothing about today is normal.

No, that's normal. Do you see the boarding groups that are being called on the first screen after you click in to "find out more"?

Exactly. Even in the online Disney community those of us practicing as a result of this thread are not a huge chunk. There’s no point in trying to stop people from practicing, or (getting ahead of myself) making those who do practice tomorrow feel bad. And if I was in Orlando I would have no shame about practicing tomorrow just incase.

I can’t imagine they don’t insure this is fixed tomorrow, but if they don’t it’s going to be an absolute mess and it’s going to have very little to do with those of us in here.

Well - I'm curious to see what happens today if the ride has a good day. While we can't really tell just yet whether all the out of park people make up 1% or 25% of those who got BGs, we can pretty much assume that the BGs will load a lot faster today while the ride is running. If they're through all BGs by 3pm or so, I would not be surprised if they find a way to get some others on it for the last few hours. If they're done at 6pm - probably not - but really curious! And if the ride doesn't have a great day and they don't get through all BGs, then while this was a major error that needs to be fixed by tomorrow - it won't have resulted in anyone in the park losing a chance to ride who would otherwise have ridden. (Frankly, if I were running the park, as much as I'd hate to say it, I'd intentionally slow the BGs if it looked like they'd finish too early. Closing the ride for the day at 3 would result in a lot of unhappy guests. If they can get it to 6-7pm, they won't have to deal with the question about what they should do.)
