Thanks for the information. I just got Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railroad on opening day. I can’t believe it was available:)
Ugh! I guess I somehow missed it. I have been checking about every 30 minutes since 2:30 this afternoon and have not seen ANY MMRR FPs come available for March 7th. There seem to be 8:15am ToT, so somehow they got released and all taken without me even seeing it :(

Seriously OT, but what time was your FP?
I got 9:40 am. :)

From the discussion that I read, I think the fps were released less than an hour ago.

Unfortunately, I think you have to be checking every 30 seconds not 30 minutes when these changes take place.

Thanks - I’ve been trying to keep tabs on when exactly they’re starting FP distribution for MFSR and MMRR.

Ok, done being OT now. Back to RotR. 8-)

Anyone else considering skipping RotR until they work out the kinks and add FP? This process stresses me out.. My new husband is joining us at Disney for the first time so everything will be new for him and he doesn’t care about skipping it this time and my 7 year old doesn’t know what he’s missing. I think we’ll have a much more relaxing morning sauntering in after 9am for our 10am Oga’s Cantina ADR and skipping all the park opening insanity. I’ll keep watching this thread to see if process gets smoother before our April trip but at this point leaning towards skipping it which I never thought I’d say!

In my opinion, it’s still worth trying. My phone was an updated dud, but my husband was able to get us a backup BG. The attraction is amazing! My best advice is to try not to stress about it too much. If you are able to get a BG, then that is amazing. If not, you already have other plans set so that you are okay regardless. And definitely take screen shots, and see the GET if you can’t log in. Wish I had done that, but I was freaking out...shocking. I still got to ride on that day...just much later than I thought

Here was my experience:

Drove to the HS parking lot and arrived at 6:50am. After the bag check and crazy line for tapstiles we were in the park at 7:15. We sat at the patio outside the Brown Derby and bought coffee from the kiosk right there since Starbucks was insane.

7:50- my wife and checked our apps to see if they were working. I attempted to get a random fast pass just to verify that my party would show up in the list correctly and they did.

7:55 - my WiFi and I got off the WiFi and force closed our apps (we both have iPhone X)

7:58 - open the apps and left them on the home screen and used my Apple Watch the check the seconds

7:59 - the quietest minute I have EVER experienced at any Disney park. Seriously - it was as if I lost my hearing.

8:00:01 - we hit “Find our more” and “joined boarding group” visibly went from grey to red -> then hit select all, continue and it was done. We got BG 4.
Then I hear several cheers around me.

Let me take a moment here - DON’T CHEER WHEN YOU GET YOUR BG!!! Don’t you get it?? You are competing with everyone around you! Every cheer is some other family getting a worse BG. <edited by a moderator> be cool and quietly make your way to your first ride.

8:20 - RotR opens and we get the app notification. We made it <moderator edit: half-way> through and the ride goes down and they give us the fast pass.

10:00 - there is no indication anywhere I could see in the app about the ride status but we go back and are allowed in the FP line. interestingly, we meet other families in the line that got their FP late the day before when it broke down. I’m curious as to the logic or cut off for how late it needs to break for you to get the “all day” FP the next day. We finally make it through the experience.

I think the best strategy is keep your expectations low.

Wow.. Makes me wonder if we were the only group to get through the ride then in the morning. We were literally the first people to get onto the ride. And when we got near end we had about a 5 minute delay just sittin there. But everything was good when going

I think we were off the ride around 835.

I'd definitely consider it if we went to Disney frequently!

I'm surprised by how much worse the a.m. scramble has gotten since I was there solo the week of January 19. That whole week was 7:00 a.m., and except for one morning when I goofed up on starting the app, I got low groups by following the steps outlined here. The app update seems to be the main culprit; hope that gets resolved soon.

We were in the park at 7:30, got BG 44 right at 8:00. Called us at 2:10, got in line, ride went down until about 3:10, finally got on about 3:55. Ride stopped half way through (not sure since I don't know how much was left lol) and we were escorted out at 4:10. Got a FP to ride later but our day was full with FPs and reservations so we switched it to a ROTR FP for Sunday which was going to be our next day there anyway. At least now we can just walk on without getting up early for a BG. (Or can we try for another one?)
So our take on today was, we got up at 6:30 and got into the park at 7:30, waited half hour with nothing to do. Then lined up and did half a ride (taking up 2 more hours of our day) and what did we get? A fastpass. Used to be you just had to walk up to a machine, put in your ticket and get a fastpass instantly. Ahhh progress.
What we saw of the ride was pretty cool, but to line up 2 hours and just get a fastpass to come back and try again doesn't seem worth it. I wouldn't line up that long for a free dinner, lol
Feel like I'm ranting a little, sorry, long day.

I planned on doing it but skipped it last minute because my kids were sleeping and I really didn’t want to wake them up. My kids are reliably very early risers at WDW so I thought we would all go, but we had been out late the night before and they were totally exhausted. My 3 year old isn’t tall enough, so I especially didn’t want to wake him to try and get something he couldn’t even do. My husband and brother in law went. We met up with them for our first FP at 9.

We’ll be back in 2021 and I will do it then, when both kids can do it too. I had seen lots of spoilers but my husband and brother in law hadn’t, so I really wanted them to experience it on this trip since they didn’t know any details about it. They absolutely loved it. I’m really happy they were able to go on it. I’ll catch it next time :)

I'm not considering that. But that's because we have 4 SW fans and 1 secret SW silent enjoyer who insists he's not a fan. :) That said, it's all about what is important for you. It's YOUR vacation. If the other members of your party don't care and you find it too stressful, then just you do you. The ride isn't going anywhere and maybe the next time you visit, it will be like FoP with limited FP avail and extra long standby lines. If you prefer that or are at least comfortable with that possibility, then by all means, go ahead and skip it for now. Remember, this is YOUR vacation, and while Disney planning can be stressful enough, it should be designed to be planned for your enjoyment, even if that comes at the short term expense of bypassing a popular attraction. Enjoy!

Our BG 53 was called at 3:45 and we got in line then. We finished the ride at 6pm. The line took until 5:27 and then the experience itself took 30 minutes. Each section of the attraction was backed up and full of people.

It was an amazing ride but I imagine it would be even better if it had better flow without all the stoppages and waiting once inside the attraction itself (not to mention the ridiculous wait to start the attraction).

This may not be popular among Disney fans (which I am) but I'm a little ticked that they called our BG when they obviously weren't ready for us. The outdoor queue took almost an hour then another 45 mins inside. They knew we would be in line for a very long time and it was totally unnecessary - we could have been doing other things rather than waiting for 2 hours. I have never understood why people wait hours for a Disney attraction and now that I have been one of those people, I am even more stunned that people will wait that long for any attraction.

We were beat when we were done so we rescheduled our Oga's ADR, cancelled plans to go to Epcot for fireworks, missed our TSM FP (it came and went while we were in line) and now are back in the room getting ready for another big day tomorrow.
I have 2 family members there, they were in BG 52 and had the same experience as you. They even had to waste an anytime FP that they got for SDD being down at 2:30pm because they had Fairytale firework reservations at 6:45pm...which they ran out of DHS and grabbed and Uber back to TTC. They never imagined it would take over 2 hours once they got in line. So had to scrap SDD after the 2 hour wait for RoTR.

if you happen to try again and you have issues at park opening go to a GET and explain your experience, they may be able to move your bg forward

Sorry I need to ask, what is a GET? I've seen it before, but can not decode.

It’s insane anyway. Your 10 am Oga’s reservation will lead to a 30 minute wait outside Oga’s in a heaving crowd. ROTR means the entire park is a max crowd level in the mornings.

There yesterday (Friday). Got entire family up and out early at 7:00, no small feat. Ha. Bus from riverside 6:58, in park by 7:30. Hilarious and nerve wracking seeing a sea of people all with phones out. My wife and I (iPhones) did the 8:00 drill on both phones>each had app hung up on spinning wheel for 5 Seconds>She BG 77 (I got standby)>we couldn’t/didn’t ride it. Oh well, maybe when we come back in 10 years. Booo. Honestly the only thing that kept me not pissy about it all day was following this thread all month. I had already given to the fact that it will be a long shot if we get on, so I wasn’t ‘too’ gutted. Well, maybe a little. Good luck. People right next to us doing the exact same thing with us got BG 5, so it’s all one big happy crap shoot of tears, joy and frustration (print that on a t-shirt)

Heading over from Tampa now. This will be my 3rd attempt to ride. My first two times were when they opened the BGs with the gates so we were able to get super low boarding groups by showing up early. Super nervous about getting one today.
I’ll have 3 phones going - 2 iPhones and an android. Will report back.
