"Reach for the sky!" We're finally getting there in JAN 2012!!!TR LINK PG 69!

Disney Day! Today we did Tangled, we even attempted to do a movie and go back to our Disney movie day roots, but quickly remembered why we started calling them Disney DAYS instead of movie days! Nobody watches the movie!

I take that back, they did watch a small portion of the movie while playing Twister at the same time! ;)

Our two became three today, Leslee joined us since she'll be coming with us on the trip! We thought it would be fun to include her and get her excited, she's been to WDW, but when she was very little, and doesn't remember it, so it's exciting that it's like her first trip!

Tangled092.jpg

Lots of fun stuff to decorate and theme with today, they have tons of paper printouts, activity books, and recipe ideas for Tangled! Top on my list was making the tower. Directions looked pretty straight forward, stick a dowel through some pecan rolls, top with a cupcake and an ice cream cone. I can do that?!?!? Right?

Well, maybe not?? The pecan rolls were crumbling, the dowel wouldn't go through the felt b/c I forgot to make a hole in the base stand :rolleyes1 and just as I got it all together and turned my back to wash my hands, it went toppling to the floor! In true form, Hope & I picked it up, made it shorter, and the girls ate it...it's the three second rule! :lmao:

Here's the shorter tower that we ended up with after the crash!
Tangled069.jpg

We had lots of other stuff for decoration, I'm not sure I can remember it all! I made the girls ponytail holders that I found directions for on the disneyfamily website, Hope made angel HAIR spaghetti and braided bread, amongst other decorations.

The girls painted as well, here is Savannah's:

Hope's got a bunch more pics as well on our joint PTR! We had fun, so did the girls...enough that they wouldn't get in the car when it was time to go. In two weeks we have such a fun Disney Day planned! You'll have to wait in suspense though, it's the only way I can keep you people reading! :rotfl2:

I think we might have to refer to that tower as the tower of terror! :lmao: I still can't believe how hard it was to put together!

Is that a real cast iron skillet or a plastic one. I need to keep my eye out for a toy one before our trip since DD plans on being Rapunzel. I think we had them in the One Spot at Target so they will probably be back but it might have been Christmas and that won't help me.

Yep, that was Hope's skillet and it was real, I picked it up to clear the table! ;) I'm sure she'll tell you where she got it!

Shoot, I've seen the real ones. Just don't want DD wandering around with an actual iron skillet. Especially not with her brother in striking distance. :lmao:

That skillet was my mom's. We used to have a plastic one that came with a kitchen set so I'd keep my eye out wherever toy kitchenware is sold. Our local bookstore sells educational toys and often has imaginative play toys you can't find anywhere else.

I bow at your Disney Days planning :worship: love all these ownderful ideas/pictures...such great fun...makes me super excited when we start up our Disney Days Countdown too....won't have as many for the Oct trip since it's just DH & I going but for Jan it will be fun! we love doing this kind of stuff too...how do you find the time to get all of this done :thumbsup2

also I "borrowed" your Mickey head saving chart idea...I made several for both my Oct and Jan...nothing colored in yet, but I'll share them on my PTR hopefully soon....

Time? What's this "time" you speak of???

I have no clue how I get anything done, actually, I feel like I'm going all the time! I prefer it though, I get antsy and bored after a day or so of nothing to do. Today we're off to homeschool co-op, just got done editing a photo shoot I did yesterday, but tomorrow is REALLY quiet! You know what THAT means! All-day-DIS! :thumbsup2

Three second rule. Gross.

:lmao: Just kidding! My kids LIVE by the three second rule. The tower was beautiful! It looks like the girls had a lot of fun, even if they didn't watch the whole movie. Have you and Hope gotten a chance to watch it?

My kids and I watched it in the theater. I  it! It is one of my FAVORITE Disney movies! :happytv:

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!!

tumblr_l19rxz21Qj1qbv8neo1_400.jpg

Love me some Earth Day! We usually have a fun filled day at the local Earth Day celebration, and today we will head there if the thunderstorms don't beat us to it! Of course that means no camera b/c I'm not going to take it out in a downpour. Hope everyone enjoys their day!!

Happy Earth Day, Karen! I hope you have a fun day and beat the thunderstorm! We're supposed to have thunderstorms all weekend too, so I'm trying to think of some Earth Day activities to do inside with the kids when I get home from work tonight. Oh, and I love the graphics you used. So cute!

Hi Karen!! Love your Earth Day graphics!! There are no big events here in town today to celebrate. I may do some seed starting later on tonight with Victoria. That activity counts, right??? :cool1: I wish we would have some thunderstorms here. I love them. We did have one the other day, but I really don't call 5 lightning strikes and some thunder a real storm!!! :sad1: And yesterday, would you believe it was spitting snow???!!! Oh, will spring ever come???

:goodvibes I had a good almost all Dis day yesterday it was actually my first day in over a month of nothing really to do :thumbsup2 I am happy for a break periodicaly...

I have Disney earth day shirts from 09 w/ a similar grafic (your top one) on the back...we wore them to AK last yr :thumbsup2 no real activities we have planned for that today, we'll be celebrating Good Friday this evening at church...but my youngest DD (4) reminded us it is Earth Day today and we need to save the Polar Bears so turn off the lights ;)

I hope you had a nice day and beat the thunderstorms. I must say I do love a good thunderstorm too, but not when it stops you from doing something you wanna do. I love them when we're home.

The rain held off!!! :cool1:

We had a nice day, not as nice as some previous Earth Days (they changed the venue and a few other things) but it was fun and the rain help off!

EarthDay013.jpg

Savannah & I took our Earth Day cheek-to-cheek shot, we have one from every year I think since we moved out here!

EarthDay030.jpg

We walked around to the booths, the girls made their own footprints at one of them.

EarthDay109.jpg

Then we headed over to the Solar houses that the local college built for a tour.

EarthDay143.jpg

EarthDay157.jpg

This was probably the most enjoyable part of the day, everyone really enjoyed looking in the houses and hearing about how they worked.

EarthDay167.jpg

they also had a bunch of art made from recycling that was submitted by local schools. We asked how our homeschooled kids could do this next year and submit entries. Some of them were really cool.

EarthDay170.jpg

EarthDay160.jpg

We went back for a little while after the tours and the kids got their faces painted. Savannah always opts for her hands/arms to be painted instead, she doesn't like stuff on her face (or people touching it!)

EarthDay254.jpg

All in all it was a great day and I came home to find an invitation to show my artwork and have a table at a summer show at a local state park! I'm so excited and honored! It's a renewable energy/sustainable living fair, so I'll be featuring my nature and animal photography. I can sell it as well!! :woohoo:

:flower3: I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!!!!
:flower3:

What great Earth Day activities! It looks like the kids had fun. It will be nice if your homeschool kids can do projects next year! Congrats on being able to show your art at the fair! That is awesome :goodvibes

Well, it looks like free dining is going to come out for the Aug-Sept crowd! I'm happy for them, but selfishly, I'm actually pleased that the last day that it looks like it will be offered (it's only out for Disney Visa people today) is 9-24. That is a full week before we arrive! What this means to me is that even if people book on the last possible day, they will most likely be headed out when we are arriving and I'm hoping that the restaurants won't be as packed! Yep, always thinking of myself!

I'm DYING to purchase our tickets! I went back looking for something in my old Neverending PTR from last year and it was harder than I thought reading through some of those posts. I just so desperately wanted to make it happen, but didn't have anything saved and no money coming in. This year I already have the house paid for and I have the darn money for the tickets...I just want to BUY THEM! The Disney Youth program, where we get our homeschool days tickets, has all kinds of YES program stuff available and even classes in the fall already, but they are totally draggin their arses on registration/tickets for homeschool days. Not only does it make me nervous, but annoyed, b/c I want to buy something non-refundable! :lmao:

They need to get with it, I think I'll call them again today. I'm sure that ME calling will really get them moving!

The sun is finally out today and we are headed to the park for playgroup! :cool1:
