"Reach for the sky!" We're finally getting there in JAN 2012!!!TR LINK PG 69!

OH and I see you also have a 365 project! I did that too! My friend, Hope, and I did it together (so some of them are hers and some are mine) but we didn't finish the year. We learned a TON though and really enjoyed it, but it ran it's course and I kind of started to feel forced to shoot, so I stopped. It's here: 365 project

I have my own petsitting business, I started up 7 years ago and have a nice clientele but since I live in a rural/small town area, I don't need employees (except when I go to WDW and have no one to cover for me!) Well, I take that back, the holidays can be hardcore with a ton of them all out of town at once, but it's worth it!

That's great! Yeah, there is good money in having your own business! But I'm a little people-shy (which is why I prefer to work with animals!) so I like having a "boss" that deals with all the business stuff and I can just focus on the pets! Plus it gives me peace of mind knowing that there is a whole network of other sitters that can step in and take over my jobs in case there is an emergency!

My camera is old, it's a Nikon D40, but for now it will have do do until I can upgrade! I have a FB page for my photography if you are interested, but it really only has shots (portrait stuff) that I've done for other people. It's Portraits & Paws Photography. I've got a website at www.portraitsandpaws.zenfolio.com if you want to check it out.

Yay! A fellow Nikon shooter! I mostly use a Nikon D300, but I also have a D50 and a D70. Though I wanted something smaller and lighter to take to WDW, so I recently got myself a Sony NEX-3. January will be the first time I get to try it out at WDW, and I can't wait!

I love your photos! Especially the animal photos! Really wonderful work! I have a website at lindsaydean.artworkfolio.com that you can check out if you'd like!

Seriously though...another petsitter, photographer, lover of WDW going in January???? I had no clue such a person existed! You aren't a vegan too or a runner, right? Then it might be getting a little creepy!

Haha, I actually used to be a vegan! But I have a lot of food allergies, so it was difficult for me to maintain a vegan lifestyle. I'm not a runner at all! Haha, I'm a swimmer. My parents are runners though! But running is never something I could get into...

Oh awesome!!! Yeah, it's been a lot of fun, but it's A LOT of work! And I've gotten so far behind on updating my 365 blog!!! I definitely know what you mean about the "forced to shoot" feeling! It's been a great experience, but I don't think I'd ever do it again!

shopping for Disney can be fun and a curse huh? ;) sorry about the printer...have you googled online for any tips?

another though on the bag situation since you mention you don't want to lug the girls things...can't they carry their own bags? both of my twins carry their own stuff now for the last two trips...they keep their autograph books, trading pin lanyards, DSI's etc in them.

as far as thoughts of autograph books...you can totally make your own w/ or w/out a printer...of course a printer would be more fun...

I like MarsMama ideas...

I made nice keepsake books for the kids in Nov.

here is a link to some pixs on my PTR:

you'll have to scroll down past a few other things to see them...there is a link too at top of page to see one a little closer...

the characters loved them..that they had their pictures in there and I added little quotes or sayings about them...it was fun for them, the kids and me :goodvibes

here's Aladdian enjoying his page :thumbsup2

I used DISigner Natalie (think donatalie) autograph pages from her PB links. If you can't use a printer...just using some colored cardstock like MarsMama suggested hole punched and held together w/ a jump ring or ribbon and you can use some markers to draw borders and add little Disney sayings and quotes too.

just have fun w/ it...you have lots of time still!

Yep, I was already doing this, but I was worried their bags were too small for the encyclopedia book that we would use as a autograph book. I think I have the problem solved no matter what we use for autograph books, I found some nylon drawstring backpacks that are cheap and I'm going to get the girls and myself each one! drawstring backpack

I'm leaning more towards making them, I'm going to have to get a new printer either way I think. I have a couple questions about how you made yours though... You said: "I covered 3 x 5 chipboard books w/ cardstock and inked the edges" What are chipboard books? I'm thinking at least I won't have to make the each character EXACT this way, but I'm unsure exactly what you did...

OMG, and I thought I was planning-maker-extraorinaire! You made a TON of stuff! :worship:

Those are the ones I am using for the autograph books this time. Did you go with a 4x6? If so, how was it? Any problems with the characters signing them? I printed off a few, but they looked so small, I thought I would have to go with a 5X7. The sayings and quotes are a good idea, I may have to add some.
Once I get all of my projects done I'll get some photos and post them :)

Yep, I have a bunch of Natalie's as well. I wonder if I could get index cards and then print out the autograph's slightly smaller and glue them on?

Ok, I just have to say that I'm getting SO excited finding all these January 2012 PTRs! :goodvibes

Not that I have forgotten my fall 2011 buddies, it will be cool to get to read everyone's TR's when they get back!

So, not a ton going on with trip planning right now, I'm trying to pull back so that I actually have money for the trip, not just outfits to wear! :lmao: I did, however, contact this lady that makes HATS! We have had her make a couple before, as gifts, but this time Rey & Savannah want monkey hats to wear at WDW when we go! They will be like this pic, but BRIGHT colored!

She makes lots of different kinds (owls, giraffes, etc) but I emailed her about a special hat for ME! I wanted to know if she could do Minnie Mouse and it turns out she found a pattern and she can! I'm so excited, I will certainly be posting pics when she finishes and I get them!

I'm not certain if Leslee and the boys will wear hats, I thought when we got ours, I would ask them what they thought. Dylan, my oldest, probably will, but I'm not sure Dallas will. I think Leslee will want one when she sees Savannah's, but I'm unsure of what animal to get her. I just thought these would be PERFECT for WDW and if it's cold in the AM and PM hours, they will not only look adorable, but keep our heads warm!

chatted via PM's but for others...I printed mine as 3 x 5 and then mounted on approx 4 x 6 chipboard :goodvibes

Karen the hats are a riot :thumbsup2 I can't wait to see them!

Thanks Julie! The jury is still out here on what I'm going to do about the autograph books. It will depend on my printer situation. I did find CHEAP nylon drawstring bags that are lightweight for the girls (and myself) and I think I will be getting those. That way no matter what we decide on, the bag they have should hold whatever they are bringing to the park that day and their autograph books!

Hi Karen- I LOVE that hat, it is so adorable. you will have to post pics of what she makes.

so sorry on the printer jamming up. have you figured it out yet. We don't even have one at home. I know, what am I, in the dark ages? :rotfl:

For autograph books- last year, my family got together and made their own. My aunt is a scrapper and had the nice binding machine and all for us to use with our card stock. This year, I made an album on shutterfly and it was about $25 when all was said and done. Another cheaper option is just to make your own- you can buy a notebook or some kind (smaller size) with cardstock already bound and just decorate those pages with scrapbook materials, stickers etc.

Hey Michelle! Nope, no change with the printer. It's working, but streaked and colors off, so I just can't use it for things that need to actually look nice. :p

That totally sucks with the printer. Printers are so cheap these days (and it shows) it definitely costs less to buy a new one than to try and figure out what's wrong. I used a ton of ink one time trying to clean the heads. I hate 'em. Unless they're working then I think they're great! :rotfl2:

I can't wait to see pics of you guys wearing your hats!

Hi, thanks for stopping by my PTR, I will be honest, I took a sampling of yours, as it is, excuse the teenage phrase, EPIC!

As for autographs, last time I just brought white cardstock pre-cut into index size cards and had them sign that. I wasn't sure whether I would add them to the scrapbook I was making or bind another, so this worked well for me.

That hat is so cute, oddly enough my bff (who is coming on the trip with me) also makes sock monkey hats, its one way she is making extra money for disney!

Yep, the new ones aren't that bad, BUT, I have a ton of ink (got a great big bunch of generics from Amazon not that long ago) that I hate to give up! Rey says we should put the money into a "good" printer, but I have doubts that there really are any good ones out there, no matter what you spend. Anyone have a printer they just LOVE??? :confused3

EPIC PTR!!!!!! :rotfl2: I may have to change the name! OMG, I'm rollin'. :lmao: Welcome to my epic ptr!!!

You should check out Artscow, they have deals all the time and sometimes they are for free photobooks. You can arrange it how you want with the cards then use that! Or get a bunch of index cards and lets the girls design there own with markers and glitter and such, then just paste them in a book.

Love the hat!
Sorry about the printer situation. So frustrating!!!

Amanda

Thx Amanda, I'm having a great time reading your TR, btw!
