"Reach for the sky!" We're finally getting there in JAN 2012!!!TR LINK PG 69!

Holy Mickey Heads Batman!!! :scared1: Those tie-dye mickey head shirts are AWESOME!

When I first joined your PTR I saw your boys and Rey wearing them, but I thought you had purchased them. I had NO IDEA you had actually made them! It's now time for me to worhip :worship: you! I checked out the link with the detailed instructions...OMG! I can't wait to make some this summer with Caden! Oh how much fun!

I have only ever tie-dyed at places I have worked (the Y, summer camps, school, etc.) or places I have volunteered (The KY Humane Society). I have never actually purchased the dye myself. What kind of dye did you use? The colors in your shirts are so bold!!! I LOVE it! What is the "soda ash" soak? Is it a pre-mix you can buy?

Ahhh...worship! I like it!

Ok, best place to go is Dharma trading co. online! They have GREAT quality dyes plus instructions and the soda ash, etc. I think you can also go to Michaels and get kits for tye die as well, I think people have gotten good results with those.

I get my transfers from AmyMickey. She sells them and they work SO much better than any I have gotten in the store! The website is Amymickey dot com! The DISigns I get by requesting them from the DISigners on the DISIGN boards here:
Creative DISigns

Thanks so much for the info. I might be able to figure it all out! :rotfl:

OK...remember the part where I said I have never bought dye before? What exactly should I be purchasing from Dharma? I feel like I'm reading a foreign language!

Ok, go HERE:
Dharma Dyes

Now, pick out the colors you want to use, just get one of each of the colors you want.

If you scroll down under the colors, the soda ash is there for purchase and it looks like they have some kits you can get as well, there are different sizes, it tells you about how many shirts it will make for each kit. That's about it! I believe they send directions with the dye & kits!

Hehe... THANKS!!! You're awesome! Sometimes I'm a little slow and I need someone to hold my hand! :upsidedow

Just checked out Amymickey. Home page says she doesn't do Disney designs anymore. Kind of sucks since mickey is in the website name. Guessing copyright problems. Could still get cool family vacation designs.

Bookmarked. :-) I've bought the Rit dyes before and the colors weren't nearly as crisp as yours. This is gonna be the best summer ever. My last two trips were planned during the school year. Now we have all summer to do fun stuff like this.

No, she can't do Disney designs, but she's still on the creative disign boards doing non-disney stuff. She sells the blank transfers though, they are on her website!

Your tie dye shirts looks great. I love the matching shirts, may have to steal that idea!

So close, I can almost taste it!!! Savannah & I have been coloring in our special savings-mickey-head for the tickets, and this weekend we filled it in *almost* to the top! Just a tiny bit left in those ears before I have the money for the tickets!!! :woohoo: $88 to be exact! (basically the tax!)

This is such a big deal to me b/c the rental house is paid for already and I feel like once I purchase the tickets, we really ARE going to make it there this year! I'm SO excited!!!!! :lovestruc We have another one of these mickey heads that I made just for food expenses, and it's even bigger, but I'm pretty sure I can come up with that money, I'll eat PB&J if I have to, but once those tickets are in my hand, there's no turning back!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I L-O-V-E this idea! Absolutely LOVE IT!!! I am definitely doing this too! Great job on being so close to getting those tickets! I completely understand that feeling of each milestone feeling like a tremendous accomplishment – because it is!!! It feels so great to have stuff paid off! :woohoo:

Thanks Ladies! :goodvibes I have to admit though that it wasn't MY idea...Hope gave me the idea...not a big surprise there!

I think it's really good to see my progress in savings, it keeps me on track! I also like that it's hanging where the kids can see it, I think somewhere in their minds, it will be more meaningful if they realize how hard we worked and saved for the trip. Maybe it will even give them an idea of how sometimes it take s a long time to save for what you want. My oldest seems to think that if you have to wait more than a week for something, it's a travesty!

Hope, how do you come up with this stuff? :thumbsup2

Karen, I think that is a great idea because kids (at least mine, anyway) really seem to think that money grows on the tree out back! I have them watch me pay bills sometimes and “help” me budget grocery store trips etc., but it seems that they forget shortly after that I have to actually work to provide these things for them :rotfl: Maybe I’ll make one for their souvenir money too and they can set a goal of how much money they want and I can get some extra chores out of them! Win-Win situation! :lmao:

Yep, it's a great idea, I'm really glad I'm doing it, keeps me on goal, especially during those weeks that there isn't much left to add to savings!

I think it would be a great idea for kids savings as well! I think it's really hard for kids to understand b/c they really aren't IN the adult world yet of work, money, bills, banks, etc. Showing them can help, but like a lot of things in life, some things you just have to experience to really "get it". I think at least exposing them to budgets, savings, etc. will give them a good base for when they get older and really get to experience dealing with money.

This is a great idea, I am going to do this for each of my kids to save their spending money for the trip. They'll love it!

this is a great idea. i think my son is too young for it (3), heck, he doesn't even really understand the calendar we do- since he is still understanding time/months etc. But i think it is important for the kids to realize the trip isn't a given, it is hard work to make it happen! :thumbsup2

love your shirts- those are so darn adorable! i might have to try some this summer, but i fear they won't be quite as great as yours!

Hi Karen...caught up again....glad all the ADR making worked out (you are done )...the EE night looked fun, yum ice cream cone mountian :thumbsup2

thanks for sharing the tye dye info that is awesome! my DD Bekah would love this...I sent a link to this post to my sister she is very crafty w/ fabric and probably could do that baste stiching (she stitches)...this would make an awesome b-day gift for her! let you know if we do it :goodvibes

Hi Karen
Just found your PTR and read all 24 pages in one day. I love it!!!
We will be heading there right after you leave. We are also staying off property this time. (A house in Orange Tree) Just makes more sense with two teenagers and a 9 yr old on his last trip before he is considered a disney "adult".

I am the Disney :surfweb: nut in my family, so I understand ALL of your ramblings. I am also jumping online every morning to book PS reservations. So far I have gotten everything I want. :thumbsup2

I love your Mickey savings chart! Awesome idea!!!
I've said it before but your Mickey tie dyes are amazing.

Amanda

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been missing the last couple days! One of my closest friends had her baby last night, she had a homebirth and had me photograph it! I'm working with only an hour and a half sleep right now, but wanted to pop in and give a tiny update! Here's the big boy!

summersbirth774.jpg

He was born at home with a midwife and weighed...11 pounds 14 ounces!!!! It was really great to photograph, I got some great shots, I have never photographed a birth before! :goodvibes

But, on to more Disney related things! Tonight I will have a house full of girls b/c Disney is releasing a new movie (on the Disney channel) called Lemonade Mouth. We always have movie parties when they do this, it's sort of become a tradition! Hope will be here tonight as well, so I'm sure we'll talk Disney! I have all kinds of lemon/lemonade themed stuff, I'll take pics and post them when I get a chance! Just wanted you to know that Disney is ALWAYS on my mind!

AND...Monday is Disney Day with Hope & Kya! Leslee will be joining us as well, it's her first Disney Day with us, so we're making a big production of it naturally! ;)

Oh my goodness, I love newborns! That is a fantastic picture, Karen! Have fun at your Lemonade Mouth party! I have to DVR it since this is my kids' weekend with their dad, but I'll be sure to steal your party ideas for when we watch the movie :lmao:

Wow, that is one big boy!! Awesome photo!
Can't wait to see the pictures of the movie night and Monday's Disney day!!

Thanks Erin! The girls had a blast, they liked the movie, and we had fun! I'll be uploading the pics in a sec!
