A bit random, I know.:rotfl:

I have a good quality sofa and chair and it has served us very well over the years. It has seen better days and is now looking tatty and is starting to fray. :)Has anyone ever got a sofa/chair professionally re-upholstered? What was the result like? How much did it cost?:confused3

My in-laws did some years ago. Made their furniture look like new - no idea how much it cost though, but from the results I don't think it was inexpensive.

I wish we'd done this with a sofa we had when we were first married as we've never been able to find such a nice sofa since.

We paid a lot of money for our sofa (before we had kids!) and I could not afford to replace it with the same quality now. I just have no idea how much it would cost or who to go to.:confused3

I am about to have a chair done. Like you it was bought before we had kids. The 2 and 3 seater are in the front room now but we have the chair in the back room with a leather sofa and it looks like it has been separated. Thankfully in Derby we have a couple of good re upholsters. Best thing to do is check the yellow pages where you live and see if you can visit them in situ to get an idea how good they are.

Will do.:thumbsup2 Can I be nosey and ask how much your chair is costing? I am clueless about this and don't know whether it would cost £100 or £500.:rotfl:

Originally I was going to get a the 2 seater re covered and the quote was £600 inc the fabric. I am hoping that the chair will be half the price but until I decide on the fabric I'm not sure, hope that helps.

Thanks Clare. That gives me a ballpark figure to think about. If I could get the sofa and chair done for around £1000, it would be well worth it.:thumbsup2
