What does everyone do for tickets if they don't go twice in a year?

I assumed that I would get a PAP then realised that this is about £300 even with $100 off. Therefore if attraction tickets direct are doing a two week ultimate for £173 an adult we will be much better off. We are hoping to eat in our villas and go to crossroads so will not need the DDE this year maybe?

What do you guys do?

We don't spend many days out of a two-week trip in the parks now, and we rarely manage to plan things so that we'd get two trips out of an AP.

The last couple of times, we've bought hoppers and kept days from one trip to the next. I expect we'll do the same with the MYW tickets once we've used all our left-over hopper days.

We had the 14 day tickets one year when we went with family and spent more time in the parks, and i have to say they were great value :)

So for a 14 day visit I take it a Ultimate Park Hopper ticket is the best value? :earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

I bought the PAPs simply for the convenience (subconciously perhaps to argue that we should go again to get the best value ;) ). We are going for 19 days and I wanted the ability to dip in and out every day. I could have "sacrificed" this for 5 days to save money as it is a big premium for that ability for those 5 extra days - if you don't go back!

You do get other benefits with APs though too - various dining discounts, free parking (a good benefit if you are staying off-resort - we are on-resort, this time anyway), and AP accomodation discounts. We are paying cash for the Fri & Sat nights of our OKW stay and the DVC Member discount rate is cheaper than the AP discount rate, so no saving for us this time - if we go back though.....

Depending where you are staying, the best combination might be 1 AP/PAP (which will give you the other benefits) and 14-day passes for the others - hedge your bets :) .

We bought one annual pass in order to qualify for the DDE, and five 14 Day Ultimate tickets. We got a good deal on the Ultimate before the price rise, £153 each. :)

We are staying at SSR (I am hoping to stay the last three days at beach club or Boardwalk if there is a two bed available at the seven month window and have already booked two afternoons off work to phone first thing for the day by day reservations, but that is another story or thread).

I did suggest to DH that we get one AP between us for the DDE but he thinks that we will be eating some meals in our villas (kind of picnics meals between the three families!!) and walking to crossroads so would not need it this year.

We get some dining discounts anyway with DVC although not alcohol.

After DD leaves school we will definately go twice a years and obviously get APs.

These Ultimate 14 days do seem too good to be true?

Susan, have you stayed at SSR before? I am asking because Crossroads isn't quite as close as it may look on a map. I think it took us about 20 minutes to walk there, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't hot and humid. DH moaned most of the way there so we ended up taking a taxi back. Men...

Yes we have stayed there but only one night!!

We stayed at Grosvenor Resort and walked several times from there. I know SSR is further. We are happy to walk but one set of our friends who will be staying for one of the weeks are a very big couple and our other friends have a seven year old.

We thought perhaps dropping them off bringing the car back and the rest of us walking as we all like to have a drink and coming back by taxi!!!! I love walking in the evenings. It should be less humid in October. But I do have serious concerns regarding our big friends. I don't think we will be doing much theme park touring with them as my DH and my other friend's DH always walk so fast to rush off to the next attraction and our other (big) friends won't be able to keep up just getting from the car park to the park entrance!!

Thanks for the advice. It may be taxis especially after the Head Hunter burger in Jungle Jims!!

We are staying at OKW for the 5th time this summer. We usually get hopper tickets and this time we actually have 3 days each left from prevous trips we could use. But we've decided to get 14 day ultimate tickets (even though we are on a cruise for 3 days in the middle of the trip) as it then gives us the freedom to do what we want. We especially love the water parks and hoppers treat those as a separate park so we use up a 'plus' every time we visit TL and BB. We go every 2 years or so and therefore AP/PAPs work out more expensive. We're doing the Dining Plan for the stay before the cruise and will eat off-site on in the villa for most of the days after the cruise (we want to go to Hard Rock Cafe, Ming Court, Rainforest Cafe etc).

Have you thought about getting the boat to DTD and walking to crossroads from there? I would have thought that a shorter walk than from SSR and you could still get a taxi back

We are now having third thoughts. We may well go again in 2007 the last two weeks in August. If I can get the time off work this would mean that PAPs would be better.

I will need to wait to see if the school holidays stay the same as they have always and whether my boss will agree the last two weeks of August as she likes to go for the middle two week of the school holidays.

:wave2: We are going for 17 days at easter but felt the 14 day was the best and so we can end at Magic Kingdom (like we always like to with spectromagic and wishes ) we will spend the first 3 days at SW and USF.
