Does anyone know what month they'll be reopening next year? I want to base my next trip around that. :goodvibes

That's a difficult question because things can (and often do!) get pushed back. Disney tends to give broad date ranges for that very reason.

World of Color was supposed to open "Spring 2010." At first people thought World of Color might open in March for Spring Break, and when that didn't seem likely, then at least by May 2010.

We planned our trip in early-to-mid-June (the last weekend before our APs expired), figuring that it will have been out for at least a few weeks by then, and that the crowds would have died down.

Public premiere date was in fact the weekend of our trip. Technically still "spring" but only just. (It actually worked out really well for us; crowds were not big at all, even though I was expecting things to be awful. So we were very blessed!)

Anyway, it's hard to know quite when something will be open, especially so far in advance. If you REALLY want to see it, take the latest date anyone thinks it could possibly open, and add a month to that.

Have a great trip!

Agreed! Mouseplanet is listing May 20th as the opening date...but things never seem to be on schedule and that date will almost certainly change!

Thanks for the replies. I'm still not sure when the trip will take place. My mom wants to go on her bday at the end of July. I would think it will be open by then. But my DD starts kindegarten next year. If we're not out of our house by then (we're waiting to move to another house that's in foreclosure) , then the school she'd be attending is year round. Sigh! :headache:That would really complicate vacation planning, but I'll stop going off topic.

FYI: Little Mermaid is set to open around the same time too.

I would think that Disney would want everything set up and ready to go by the time Star Wars Weekends come around at WDW. They usually start in late May.

If it is ready for WDW-should be ready for DL also.

WAT??? They're making a Little Mermaid ride at DL too? :hyper:
It will debut at DCA in May or June 2011 and at MK at WDW in 2012 some time.

 Hmm..I'm confused. Will this be an indoor fantasy ride like Alice, Peter Pan, Snow White? :confused3

:goodvibes Thanks for the photos.

Yes, BUT on a MUCH bigger scale. Think Haunted Mansion type ride but with new, state-of-the art animatronics and incredible music and grand scenes all about the Little Mermaid.

Yes, it is a "dark ride" like the others you listed.

There is a pretty cool concept of it in this LA Times article. Do not look if you do not want spoilers.

I don't know that I would agree with the idea that it may open in both Parks at the same time. I DO think Disney will want it to open in time for summer though, which seems to coordinate with when you are saying Star Wars weekends start at WDW.
