I just found out that there is going to be a launch at the Space Center when we are there on our upcoming trip. My bF is really interested in doing this....Has anyone ever done this?

If so, where is the best place to watch? Do you have to get there early? How long is the drive from Kissimmee? :confused3

Any info would be great!!

Thanks - Jo:banana:

We had tickets for the launch last August. But--it got postponed, until after we got home.
Be aware--tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable!

So if it gets cancelled like it did for us, you will lose your money. We were out $150!!!

We had tickets to get right into the viewing area. And we were going to tour the facilities first. On a launch day a few of the buildings are closed though, for security reasons.

Have fun!

DH and I were in WDW in September/06. A launch was also scheduled to go while we were there. So we got up at 5am to rent a car to drive to the coast and stake out a good spot to view. We got to Cocoa Beach around 7am and decided to go have breakfast which was where we were informed the launch had just been cancelled. :( They scheduled and cancelled the launch the next two days and it finally went on Saturday. We were at EPCOT and didn't rent a car to go see because we didn't believe it was going to go. Also on launch days the Kennedy Space Center isn't open for touring, just viewing (for a non-refundable fee). We wanted to tour the center (which I recommend) so we went on another day. The drive takes about 45 minutes.

kewl...a fellow Edmontonian!! :thumbsup2

We're going down in Oct and there's a shuttle launch scheduled for when we're there. Since DH's grandfather worked for the company that designed and built the shuttle we really want to see the launch so here's what we've learned...

On KSC's website there's a link to their "Launches" page. On the right hand side of that page is a link to sign up for launch updates to keep you posted as to when tickets go on sale, etc. Once the launch date gets closer tickets will go on sale for around $50 which gets you bussed into the restricted area for the closest possible public viewing. The potential downside is the tix are non-refundable if the launch gets scrubbed and rescheduled for a time after you've returned home but your regular admission to the visitor's complex is $38 anyways so it's not that big a gamble.

Hope this helps!!

well....now I'm worried about the launch being cancelled as it is on our last day there. I would be hesitant to purchase tickets for a launch if they are going to be cancelling it and tickets are non-refundable. Anyways, I will have to keep my eyes peeled for information. I think that would be a great experience to see....so hopefully it launches!!

Thanks everyone...Jo
