Hydroguy,

I have printed off and read most of your threads that are pertinent for our trip in August, and I just want to say THANK YOU! I totally feel like I have a "grip" on what I am doing, and can make a good touring plan.

However, how would you, or anyone else who might be reading this, work out your touring plan (assuming EE) with the new Nemo ride? Naturally, I would love to ride it, but based on the insane wait times I am reading about, I'm not sure how to do it. It doesn't have a FASTPASS, right?

By the way, should I get the ridemax? I have purchased Tourguide Mike in the past for WDW and loved it. I know they aren't the same, but they are a similar concept. Does it really work?

We did Nemo on our EE day the week the ride opened. The key is to get to the front gates EARLY. We did like 45 minutes early. This way your up front in line to get in to the park. If you get there later, the line will be longer (and so will Nemo's line then!).

Once they start letting people in, it's a mad dash over to Nemo. I sent my DH and DS ahead of me, they can walk FAST. Then I met them in the Nemo line. We were on the first sub. So for us it really was all about getting to the front gates early, and being really close to the front of the line (we were the second family in line at our gate).

For what it's worth, we rode Nemo on July 12 and the wait was about an hour - the same wait Space and Splash Mountains had pretty much all three days we were there.
ETA: We rode midday (probably overlapped some of the parade time), not during EE. I think it is slowing down some - the highest wait I ever saw was 120 minutes, Splash Mtn had that wait time also.

There's been numerous conversations regarding this exact thing on the DIS. I think the general concensous is that you MUST be at the gate a minimum of 30 minutes before EE opening and "walk with a purpose" to Nemo. That way you will hopefully be one of the first couple of groups on the subs and afterwards you can move through the rest of EE in the suggested format starting with Peter Pan, Dumbo, so on and so forth...

Also, IMO the Nemo ride is drawing EE crowds away from the rest of the EE attractions and as a result you should be able to accomplish more EE rides in the remaining time you have after Nemo.

However, in the off chance you don't get to the park early I would just skip Nemo rather than wasting EE in line. You can always spend the time in line later in the evening and hope that the line is under 120 minutes.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

Thanks, that is just the answer I wanted. So, basically, you just run to Nemo, try to be the first one on, and then continue on with your EE strategy as if Nemo wasn't an option. I do plan on being there early, which on an EE day is something like 6:15! However, I am coming from the east coast, so hopefully not too big of a deal for us....

I am glad to see also that the Nemo hype has died down a bit. Hopefully if we miss our early chance, we'll have a shorter wait toward park closing. :)

When we did it Nemo wasn't open right away. They were testing the subs and it opened I'd say 15 in to EE. So by the time we got off the ride there wasn't much time to go on with the regular EE plan. Infact rides like Peter Pan were pretty long. We did hit Buzz and Space Mountain after Nemo, but that was all there was time for.

Are there certain gates that we should line up at? How do you know which ones will be opened?

I'm usually one of the first approaching the gates and always ask the CM's behind the gates if they are using odd or even lines that morning. They'll be happy to tell you.

Amazing.

At least once a week....I learn another great lil nugget of information from our fabulously knowledgable DL guru...DangerMouse. :teacher:

Sorry for the delay in responding - we have been camping up in the high country and just got back this evening. Looks like you got some good advice here already. I am not surprised to hear that the lines for the new Nemo ride are dying down. While a fun ride, it is not a "blow you away" ride and over the next year I expect lines to steadily decrease. At the moment there is still high demand, and I expect demand to pick up again around Aug 20 when the AP blackout period lifts.

When we were at DL 4 weeks ago, my opinion is that it was best to use your EE time to ride Nemo and get to the DL gates 40 minutes early. Do NOT make the mistake of taking the right hand turn at Tomorrowland to reach Nemo. The line entrance is back behind the Matterhorn and you should walk with purpose past Tomorrowland and to the Matterhorn and then take a right if you are one of the first ones there. if you are running late, you will need to take a left at the Matterhorn because the line fills up back to IASW in the morning. And "no", Nemo does not have FP.

If you use EE for Nemo, do not expect to get anything else done during EE. If you do, consider that a bonus.

Recent reports are that Nemo lines are not too bad later in the day, so you can use your judgment on what is best for you.

RideMax is the closest thing to TGM you will find at DLR. Yes, it works, and for many people I think it is worth it even if you do not follow a strict itinerary.
