We are returning "home" in the fall and will be celebrating both our younger DD's 4th birthday as well as our 12th wedding anniversary..... Oct. 1994 we had a "Disney themed" wedding in our homestate and then honeymooned at the Beach Club ( I was a Disney store CM/manager at the time too). I'd looked into renewing our vows on our trip, but it's just way too much $$$$ right now :rotfl: I'd like to do something special for DH and was wondering if the wedding chefs can make a small (very small)wedding-type cake to be delivered to our hotel room? Anyone know if this is feasible? Thanks in advance for your responses! :)

I'm interested in this as well. I was thinking of calling them this week to see what member services tells me, but hopefully someone will post on here first. It's only our 2rd coming up and we went for our honeymoon to DW and stayed at GF. We are going back for our first family trip with our 20month old DD and want to do something special as a belated anniversary and this is for us to celebrate our DD's first year of life. Hope someone answers your post and congrats on the 12yrs, wow!!

I had a cake made to look like our Disney Wedding Cake last year our 1 yr Anniversary. I called the GF bakery dept. and they are very helpful and will replicate 1 tier of your Wedding cake. I had to pick it up at the GF and I surprised my DH with it at dinner that night. It was PERFECT. I can't find the phone number right now but if you call the GF just ask for the Bakery dept.
Good Luck and Congrats to both of you.

The Yacht and Beach resort or the Grand Floridian resort bakeries can make you a small wedding style cake. If your only serving yourself and DH, think about mini wedding cakes. Or, for 2 people, a 6" cake would be perfect.

Here's where it may get difficult. The GF bakery no longer makes cakes "to go". The increased work load and the difficulty with guest satisfaction when they pick up their own cakes has made this decision nessesary. Any cake (birthday, anniversary, etc) ordered thru the GF bakery must be served on site. Either at one of their restaurants, or Private Dining. I am not sure what the policy is at the Y&B.

Cake orders for the GF bakery are handled thru the Private Dining office, as there is no direct line from the outside to the bakery.

We had California Grills pastry chef make our parents a small wedding cake for their anniversary. It was actually a good size and costed us about $50.00 (we got them a white chocolate mickey and minnie wedding topper) They did everything I asked in detail up to the light blue frosted mickey head on the side of the cake (thier wedding color). I really liked how it turned out. The fondent icing makes the cake look very nice and their is buttercream frosting underneath (yummy). You can even choose cake type and filling too!
Good luck and Happy Anniversary :goodvibes

IntheKnow, is there a suggested "advance" time that should be given to Private Dining / Room Service for a special cake, be it a birthday cake or an anniversary cake? Since you are the most knowledgeable one on these boards regarding cakes and the bakeries, I thought I should ask you this question directly.

We had a second wedding cake at our wedding dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We ordered it through the YC bakery, and it was delivered to the resturant and waiting for us when we arrived. I believe we couldn't officially order it until 1-2 weeks before we needed it, but we had contacted the head pasty chef and set it up ahead, then we just called within the window and did it officially. It was wonderful, I would deffinatly suggest calling the bakery at the YC and asking if one can be sent up to your room, since you'll be right there anyway. I'm actually planning on doing this again for our anniversary dinner at Yachtsman on our next trip.

You can order at any time, but best to do so at least 2 weeks prior.
