My husband and I took a road trip today to Cambridge to go to the Southworks antique mall. On the way home on hwy 401 just east of Cambridge we saw a sign that said Florida Travel Centre next exit. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks.

I was wondering myself so I went in and they just are really good at florida destinations but are a travel agent for everywhere. I asked them about getting meal tickets last time and they never heard anything about what I was talking about. I just left because every question I asked they knew nothing about it. I just asked on here and got the answers.

The owner is also the publisher of the "Florida Travel" magazine -- available in finer bookstores everywhere.

I drop in about once a year to pick up brochures, pamphlets, etc. They have about two full walls of information and brochures on just about everything you could want to know about Florida.

Nope -- Disney is not their specialty -- but you can still learn a lot about Florida there.

Basically, they are a travel agency!

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid!

When they first opened, they had a big show and an costume contest, etc.

I managed to get a great deal for the Crowne Plaza over Easter Weekend but unfortunately they weren't on the ball! Had to keep requesting my confirmation from them. Luckily, everything went without a hitch! I tried calling them once after that but their hours are "Banking Hours!"

Maybe great for information but that's about it!LOL

We took a trip to Florida using the Florida Travel Center. They completely screwed us over. We thought we were getting a great deal until we got our information package and realized they had forgotten several things. They were no help in fixing their mistakes and it cost us hundreds of dollars. BEWARE!!!

I remember in 2002 they had a Florida travel show and it was awesome. They had hotel chain reps, reps from Florida cities, car rental agencies giving out great deals and lots of freebies....but then it seemed that it was abandoned with just a small office with very little info.

We had friends book using this TA. THey do not work for you. They will not do you any favours finding discounts or codes. They do not seem to know much about Disney either. My friends paid over $1000 too much, based on the discounts offered at the time. They thought they were in good hands because they are a Florida Travel agency??:confused3

I had sold my SOuthwest credits to our friends and I had to walk the TA through the process of applying the travel funds to purchase new tickets.

If someone needs a TA in the KW area, I know a CAA agent in Waterloo that is good with Disney. I called many CAA offices in Hamilton, Kitchener, Brantford looking for someone with Disney knowledge. I asked them a list of Disney travel related questions which I knew the answers to in order to see if in fact they were what the industry calls a Disney Specialist. Questions like what is an ADR and when can I book them. It is sad to say not one answered the questions correctly:scared1: (Except for the CAA agent in Waterloo.) I wanted an agent that knew as much as me or even more in order to handle my travel plans. I went with CAA because this was a time that DIsney was not releasing many discounts or codes, so I knew at the very least I would have the CAA discount.

Yes they are.... not sure why people go there though.

Our Disney trip--18 days away--is through them, and we went there in short because I hadn't discovered the DISboards yet. Hey, exclusively Florida, Disney's in Florida, ergo this'll work.

So far I can't say I'm impressed, if only because we had to tell them about the 40% accommodation discount we stumbled on. They at first denied this was applicable for our dates; when DW asked them why she could get right up to the booking screen online with that 40% discount intact, they changed their tune.
DW's diligence saved us nearly two grand, no thanks to them.

:lmao::rotfl: wow this is an old post!! I even remember it!

They are NOT helpful and they don't know much about Disney - we used them for our very first trip in 2004 and I had to call telling them about discounts/deals to get things changed. I like having control of my own reservations now thanks. At the time they didn't even suggest flying out of Buffalo to save $$ so we paid a fortune to fly from YYZ.

The best Disney specialist you will ever find is yourself - do your research and keep control of your ressies!!

LOL had to scroll back to the post dates to see this.
Any chance this is the one on Townline road? I see it everyday as I use the carpool lot. The current sign out front mentions free dinning. We have our own TA anyways and she's good.
